Current employment

Post by The jawb » Wed Mar 11, 2020 9:59 am

Hi all,

So my current employer is basically finding any excuses to try and get rid of me now they know i will be leaving to join the prison service... i never had a complaint against me in my time working here and now they have been asked for a reference they want me gone to replace me (it was confirmed by a good friend of mine who works in the offices where the managers work) at the moment they haven’t been able to find anything against me because all my work is recorded by myself incase anything where to happen like this... I haven’t been there a year so they can just give me notice to leave and now i don't know what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Surely if your doing everything by the book, they won't have any grounds in getting rid of you until you finish your notice. My work didn't even speak to me when I gave mine in and didn't even have a good bye on my last day. Didn't bother me though. Had my leaving questionnaire to do today :slyay:

Does it say that in your contract? I know all places are different.

It says they can terminate my contract with out notice if i have not been employed for more than a year... little concerning considering i have not got confirmation of a start date and my checks have not completed. :slsh2:

Might be ok man, worrying for nothing, if not, then you find something temporary to get you by until you start in the service, you know it’ll come, just need a concrete date.

What made you hand in your notice if you haven't even got a start date?

Did you realise that the vetting can be done by HMRC being checked? As I understand it, they check that these records match what you put on the form.

My employment checks were all HMRC, none of my referees were contacted.. just have to make sure that dates of employment are as accurate as possible and cover 5 years..
