Coronavirus

Post by Vinceybaby » Fri Mar 06, 2020 9:56 am

Due to start in a couple of weeks. Personally not worried about contracting Covid-19 myself, I’m in good health 30 etc, just was wondering what sort of measures are put in place for the prisons? Obviously we can’t work from home and an outbreak would spread very quickly in an environment such as a prison. With reading news as well of Iran temporarily releasing prisoners as well, any serving officers know what protocols we have or anyone have any thoughts on this?

We’ve all been subject to a brief on what to do to prevent this affecting us (hand washing, sneezing in tissue etc, all the standard stuff) and also a brief on what to do if we think ourselves or a prisoner may have it

It’s all pretty much as per the government’s public briefing and not seen as a huge threat to the prison system but if anything it would be far easier to control in a prison environment...we can after all lock the doors and gates up on areas of concern!

Any views on this virus ?

Think it will affect start dates for new recruits ?

Are you self isolating ?

No need is good news I suppose, things are certainly not being helped by the media and idiots on social media.

There was a story on sky news about prisons, it said that if anything, more staff were required through the door, so anyone who is coming to an end of training, get your armbands on as you’ll be in the deep end soon enough !!

No one in our house is affected, some people at my current place of work have decided to stay off, I’ll still be turning in for each shift until someone puts a closed sign on the door.

Exactly mate the media and social media are a nightmare. I think the training will be a bit different than normal next week :slwoot: it's just feels like a movie, a bit unreal. And dont get me started about the panic buying in bulk. :slhehe:

"Sorry mate you probably been asked this loads already but have you got any toilet roll" :slbx:

This is worse than xmas by miles. Xmas is fun, you can wear a colourful jumper put on some xmas tunes and everyones happy. People have lost all morals at the moment and are not bearing a thought for anyone but themselves.

Its like mad max atm. At least xmas the uplift on deliveries covered footfall. Wish the government would give a clear message, they basically saying it's up to us what we do as they dont want the blame.

I just hope that recruiting isn’t affected too much. I mean if SSCl don’t work, nothing can really happen as they handle the recruiting.
