Took 7 months from RAD to conditional offer first time round for me, Anth. Currently 3 months on the merit list for north east establishments. Hoping to rejoin before ARC accreditation lapses, still plenty of time yet. How long have you been waiting?

I applied for full Sutton but keep looking to see if West Yorkshire pop up. It’s been the same 45 sites for over a week. I think and I am guessing that all recruitment is suspended at all levels with exception to the online tests. Can’t wait for everything to go back to normal!

Hi
Sorry to jump here with my question. I don’t know how to start a new topic... I have a familiarisation tour booked tomorrow and I emailed twice this week to see if is still on, but didn’t receive a reply. I’m guessing it would be cancelled because of the current situation, but don’t want to just not turn up in case it isn’t. Anyone else in a similar situation? Thank you

We’re about the same then. Yeah, I’ve applied for 4 north east jails. It can take what seems like forever before things start moving. Was 13/14 months from the date of my rad to my start date last time round so I’ve got my feet up and waiting patiently ha.

The north east jails are always a rarity, I saw an advert earlier in the year and it closed 3 weeks early because of the demand, so get in quick if there is a posting for it !

My status has changed to “we will be in contact with you shortly”. I did previously get a “background checks are unsatisfactory and we will not be progressing your application further etc” but I queried that and it was cause my current employer didn’t get back to them in time and they have since done so. So I went back to “background checks in progress” for a few weeks and now it says they’ll be in contact shortly. Slightly anxious.

Hi J
I didn’t go today. Emailed them again saying I assume it is cancelled due to the lockdown and that I hope we can arrange another appointment before my start date. I hope I will hear from them soon. I’m still starting on 1st of June, but training is cancelled. Luckily I received my contract 3 days before lockdown, so my start date wasn’t affected :slbg:

That is lucky. Hopefully you can get a tour before you start, will be nice to familiarise yourself before the big day..
Ive received my contract now and details of my training (if it doesnt get postponed) and some other bits and pieces are dropping through now and again which is reassuring.
Stay safe

After having completed the ARC recently, I am on the merit list for two prisons. I hope the this current situation eases over the next few weeks. It must be pretty rough working for the service now.

I know what you mean Londonlad if waiting wasn’t bad enough, not knowing what’s going on behind the scenes because of the virus doesn’t half make it harder!
