As I said on a previous post I had my first day today and all I needed was a pen, had a notepad and few bits in my bag just in case but they weren’t needed

Our first day was a bit chaotic due to a full lock down and a prisoner taking another hostage but still an amazing first day, can collect keys now, got my uniform being washed and ironed for tomorrow (well part of it anyway, still waiting on over half of it!! Make sure you send a uniform order sheet off at least once again after your ARC one!!)

You’ll be provided with lots of paperwork and bits and pieces that you’ll need and keep an eye out for emails from Aptem...these tend to go to junk and you’ll need your account

Hope that helps!

Straight into the fire on your first day eh ! I’m hoping that all my uniform will be there come January, plenty of time to sort my wide trousers out haha !!

Hopefully you’ll have yours waiting for you, the stores guys informed me that they get a fortnightly delivery and they think mine is scheduled for next Wednesday but they have given me amble to keep me going for now

Certainly feel the part in proper kit this morning although wearing a tie is alien to me!

Sad but I can’t wait to get my uniform and wear it with pride, it’s a big achievement.

Hope you settle in well mate !

No need for an apology, I know that feeling very well!

The difference in how you feel from day 1 in civvies your day 2 when you’ve got keys and that uniform on is amazing, the prisoners can spot you a mile off but they still have respect and although they give a bit of grief and banter a good chat will settle worries quickly

My only big big piece of advice on uniform is wear decent thick socks, I’ve worn boots in jobs for about 10 years now but the amount of moving around in these brand new ones is putting strain on my well accustomed feet!!
