Referred For A Decision

Post by londonlad81 » Thu May 28, 2020 12:20 pm

I’m current going through pre employment checks. Just checked my status and it says referred for a decision. Should I be worried ?
Could it be because I joined HMPS years ago and left in probation?

Think this is the final part of vetting! Once that’s done vetting is complete it’s normal for that to appear from my experience!

I wouldn’t read into it too much. When I joined previously my status changed to this on several occasions then back to pre employment checks. Assume it changes as and when they’re reviewing certain aspects, no one really knows. Once it says they’ll be in contact, your in business.

Yeah, well I joined before and left during probation, felt that I wasn’t really supported and felt more like a hindrance so left. Wasn’t sacked. So now I’ve applied to another establishment. Last year I was successful in getting a place as an OSG but turned it down last minute as I really wanted to be an officer again.
I hope that this isn’t all held against me !

I also left during my probationary period and can totally relate to what you’re saying about feeling like a hindrance ha. I made a rash decision, left, and regretted it soon after. Wouldn’t worry too much about it being held against you, we won’t be the first and doubt we’ll be the last.

Thanks TMH. I regret leaving too, wish I stuck it out.
Training was great, had such a good group too.
Sadly left in the wings with little help, or support from management so felt a bit overwhelmed..

It’s bloody sad when new starters like yourselves felt like that, let’s be frank, this isn’t stacking shelves in a supermarket or working on a production line in a factory, support is critical when people are putting everything on the line every single day

In the time I’ve been away, I’ve reflected on where I could have done things differently to prevent everything getting on top off me. It’s a big change for anyone, stepping on the landings as the newbie but I’ll certainly have a different approach if I’m fortunate enough to get an offer. 🤞🏻

Coming up to 6 months on the merit list. Was on 7 months last time round so haven’t lost hope just yet haha.

7 months on the merit list?! As a first timer makes me feel a lot better. I didn’t realise it could take so long.

Lower staff turnover up north mate, rarely advertise up my neck of the woods.

I wouldn’t know. It must be a positive that it’s a lower staff turnover though. I’m up north too went for full Sutton was hoping to see Wakefield or armley but haven’t seen either advertise.

I’m a bit further up the map mate but yeah, lucky if they advertise once a year in some areas.
