MOTORMOUTH Jeremy Clarkson has defied critics to be named a top TV presenter in Australia.
The Top Gear star walked away with the gong despite coming under fire from eco-warriors, Green supporters and lefties Down Under.
Jezza, 50, easily topped the Switched On poll of Aussie telly viewers to be named Favourite International Star.
He beat QI’s Stephen Fry, 53, and Hollywood wildman Charlie Sheen, 45, the star of top US sitcom Two And A Half Men.
Sources claimed that Jeremy’s controversial views on Germans, Americans, the French, caravanners, truckers and Scousers hit a perfect chord with Aussies.
Media analyst Steve Allen explained: “Jeremy is the sort of bloke Australians feel at home with – he says exactly what’s on his mind forthrightly and with colour. We cannot get enough of him.”
A Top Gear source said: “The show is huge in Australia and Aussies see Jeremy as the sort of bloke they could enjoy a few tinnies with – he’s on their wavelength.”
Eco-campaigners in Oz protested when he toured the country with the Top Gear Live! show two years ago, but the events were massive sell-outs.
