Fitness tests

Post by Jambogmail1 » Sat Aug 15, 2020 12:04 pm

Is anybody else getting really frustrated that the fitness tests still are on hold, they could easily be done in social distanceing, especially now the gyms are open!

I'll have to ssc then as all my emails I keep saying due to social distanceing we are unable to do the test, I was due to go Croydon months ago. Where are you doing your test? Last email I had was about passing my video interview.

I was originally booked for Croyden but that is about 90 miles away from me, I've managed to get one at newbold which is about 60 miles.. Mine is a resit as by the time I get around to starting mine will be out of date.

That might be why, I'm right on the coast and Croydon is my closet it's about 90 miles away :-( I keep getting emails saying hold in there but if you have yours fingers crossed Croydon will start again soon. Better start my running again it's been way to hot to do it the past few weeks.

The bleep test is the only thing I'm worried about as I get so bored while trying to run. But I did a run up hill and over a big bridge with a mate after years of no training about 1 1/2 miles so I can push myself when needed.

I would recommend something other than just running flat on a treadmill for half an hour or so, get running up and down some steps or hills, get those lungs screaming !

I have my fitness on Friday in Croydon! I had my RAD in Birmingham before covid.

I know at this stage I am going to fail the bleep test. I have been struggling with my achillies, had to take 2 weeks off and then 32 degree heat has made it HARD. I run about 3 times a week, approx 2 miles ish but god I struggle mentally with the bleep test. I am really hoping there will be others there on Friday who I can pace myself with because I was on my own at my RAD! I tried to reschedule.

I don’t suppose if any of you know whether parking is available on site for Croydon. SSCL can’t help on that one!

You’ll be fine. If the worst happens you’re allowed to retake anyway the bleep test at a later date anyway, possibly more than once but can’t remember for certain. It’s around 3.5 minutes In total and the first 1.5 minutes is a slow jog.

I definitely need to up my cardio game but in this heat it's so hard to get out run. I'm kind of happy I'm still waiting to hear about mine as I probably would fail right now. I'm doing park runs well trying hoping when info the motivation to pass and the length of time the bleep test is I can get through it.

Be positive !

Use other participants as a drive “I’m going to kick their ass at this”, get your head down, zone out, get it done, are you really going to let a silly little bleep test stand in the way of your career !!! NO YOU ARE NOT !!

That's a great way to look at it! That's what I'll be thinking when I do it! 3 1/2 minutes of hell for a great career. I'll have my eye on the prize, that's for motivation Bear
