I phoned the priority recruitment line but it went to an answer phone, asking to send an email to them.

So I rang shared services straight away, the lady on the phone said things are still ongoing ( even though my portal says we’ll be in contact with you shortly) so I’m a bit confused. She said I’m probably near the end of the process and that the recruitment team call after 4pm usually on a private number.

I do remember getting a phone call last year after applying to be an OSG, after the portal said we’ll be in contact with you shortly...( I originally accepted the job but turned it down because I decided the travel and pay wasn’t really worth while, although in hindsight I should have taken the job!...)

So just waiting now...

Im at the same situation as you pal .... if this whole pandemic was not going on, wed of been called within days of the " Will Be in contact with you shortly " message.... annoying isnt it.

I am starting to think they just make it up as they go along as I get told something different whenever I speak to them.

And this was my reply ( In regards to post above )

We are currently awaiting dates for training courses and once we have been provided these by HMPPS we will be in touch to discuss possible start dates. You do not need to take any action with regards to the Verbal Offer status at this time as this is a holding status used whilst awaiting training dates.

Definetly BearGuy, After they called me last night, he said someone will call me regarding a start date, was told to keep my phone near, but no one called.....

I spoke to someone last night who said start dates are now on hold again!

Don't know why any of you are believing anything they tell you, they are guessing/trying to get you off the phone. The people we call aren't even the ones responsible for issuing start dates so it really is pointless. I've been told I'm top priority, it won't be until next year and anything in between. I haven't bothered calling for a few weeks because it's out of their control it seems

My view......nobody knows nowt....best thing to do, NOWT !!

You will be in the system and in a queue for start dates, but they aren’t in a hurry to dish them out, so when it’s your turn, they will be in touch, calling them every other day/week won’t push you further up the list.

Keep your head down, get on with your current working life, stay safe, and when the call comes, great news, start making plans, until then, unfortunately, the wait is killing you.....TOUGH !!
