And I thought the world stretched from York to Rotherham haha. Hope you get started soon. I was getting anxious as I’ve been waiting two and a half months. It’s a bit reassuring to know it can take three times as long. Soon be this time next year

Haha, cheers buddy. Need an abundance of patience and positivity for this process. Even after waiting 7 months last time round, it was nigh on another 6 months from conditional offer to start date ha, vetting only took 6 weeks though so every cloud 😂

Jcox that does not make us northerners feel any better. A few weeks wow. How long are staff lasting down there? So I guess in 12 months I might have just started my training haha. Work a Monday to Friday job right now so I will just enjoy my weekends for the time being. Well when the pubs open back up I will haha

Must admit, the first time I applied I was on the list that long that I’d lost hope. Came as a shock when I received my conditional offer. I know someone who got an offer just before their 12 month accreditation ran out so I’m fully prepared for it to be a long haul. (Might even end up having to apply again 😱) haha

If I remember rightly just about everyone on my POELT course had to re-do their fitness tests at Manchester as our start date was over 12 months from RAD day. It’s mental

Haha I’m loving the banter. Can’t believe it can take 12 months to get on POELT whilst the southern contingent are just finishing their probation. Here’s hoping good things come to those who wait!

I guess the south east has more prisons, including London, that’s maybe why the recruitment is more frequent, also wages. Up north I’d imagine you can get more house for your money, so the staff turnover is lower up north because of the wage structure.
I many be wrong just a possibility.
Checked my portal, still on the referred for a decision stage after 24 hours 😙😙

I genuinely wouldn’t worry about it, mine back and Forthed a lot more times than I can remember. I also have a police caution that, to be crude, I was sh***ing a brick about, my vetting was done in 6/7 weeks and I passed and I’m starting end of June. Be patient, I had to ring many tines about things changing and me being confused. :) good luck

Well here’s a brief history with me- I declared a caution from 20 years ago and a fine that was given to me when I was in the Forces, that was in 2002. So both misdemeanours from over 18 years ago.
I passed vetting when I originally joined in 2010 and when I briefly worked at a private jail in 2015 ( I left because it’s no way near as good as the public sector).
Then last year I passed vetting to be an OSG but changed my mind last minute when I realised that I would be on lower pay for a further drive, I also wanted to rejoin as a prison Officer again so didn’t go through with the OSG role.

Yep, it’s crazy but just got to wait it out and hope for the best. I’m merit listed for 4 establishments so hopefully get in somewhere 🤞🏻🤞🏻
