Exactly, even if you phone them everyday, you are still only getting the call when they're ready

I’m aware that if you’re on a merit list for over 12 months you have to do the ARC again with everything else.

But if you’d been offered a conditional officer and been vetted, surely they won’t make you do it all again?!

That’s right LondonLad, as soon as you receive an offer you are off the merit list therefore the 12 month accreditation is irrelevant at this point. It took over 13 months from RAD to start date when I joined last.

TheRealMe- thanks. Usually in normal times, after vetting is completed, PR will call the applicant to give them a start start. Unfortunately there is now a disruption, with covid and the governments confusing messages seem to be confusing everyone.
The government is supposedly recruiting 20 thousand more police officers over the next three years, I’m sure that target won’t be met!

Last night I was also told they're not giving out dates anymore. Absolute shower of s#$$. I am going to a red site and that doesn't even seem to have any effect. Do your establishment know you're stuck waiting? I have had 0 contact from them, don't know if that's normal or not

Could contact your establishments people hub, they might be able to give you more details or even speak to sscl themselves to see what the hold up is. Whenever candidates contact sscl either by phone or email, the answers are sometimes very generic and offer little insight. Understandable in a way as they’d be inundated with ppl asking for updates but they probably are anyway 🤷

X3129- sorry for the late response, I've only just read your comment. Are there no more start dates being given this year? I'm wondering if it is worth contacting my local establishment myself to be honest.

I just hope those of us that have been given conditional offers have these ‘honoured’. Really don’t want to go through this process over again!

That's what I was told by one person on the phone, who may or may not have been misinformed. The year is getting on though, so possibly won't be until next year.

I am concerned about that too LondonLad,my prison was recruiting again a month or so ago and I considered that maybe my timeline will get pushed into the training schedule of those applicants

Wouldn’t worry about having to redo anything other than fitness tests. We’ve all had conditional offers of employment, the condition being passing vetting. If they do/have stopped giving start dates, it’s likely those who have passed vetting will likely be placed on a waiting list.

If you have been given a start date, I’m of the understanding that it will be honoured, I was supposed to start in April but Covid put a stop on all training, however my start date was still to remain but to do OSG duties until officer training was resumed, as was the case for many on here.

Unfortunately because of various factors, I withdrew as the proposed plan was not feasible for myself and my family at the time.

Bearguy, that’s right. Once they have given you a start date and contract, they have to honour it regardless of the covid situation. Hence why people were given start dates and had to work as OSGs , until POELT courses started up again.
Atleast they’re getting paid the officer wages whilst waiting!
