Appeal Timeframe

Post by JCOX4 » Sat Feb 15, 2020 8:22 am

Morning all.
I am currently appealing my failed vetting decision. It was failed due to previous convictions which I do understand.
However my appeal was sent in and it has been with the appeal panel for 4 weeks now!! In my opinion this should be the max time I should be waiting for the outcome. SSCL are horrific when I call and just tell me it will take as long as it takes and are absolutely no help at all.
My questions are:
Anyone have experience with appeal, if so how long does it take?
Does anyone have advice on someone I can call? (Ive tried establishment but they cant help)

Cheers
J

Yes bear, it is very frustrating. I am seeing people get through the whole vetting process in less than 4 weeks!

Easy for me to say, but try and out it out of your head, you’ll get your call or letter out of the blue and it will make your day when they decide in your favour !!

Hi. Glad to hear you was successful in your appeal judging by your time line!

I am currently appealing as well due to a conviction (pitch invasion at a football match).
Could you provide and information of what you included in your appeal re evidence etc?

I put what happened/circumstances leading up to it, what I have learnt from it. I got some character references from ex bosses and a police officer who I know personally which I think also helped out a lot.
Good luck with it, its a painful process

Jcox I think I might be in the same boat once I get to the vetting stage about 6-7 years ago I sent a message to someone being violent, basically he used my mum and I lost the plot, my sister got arrested as she kicked him and as I was there I got arrested and a fixed penalty £60 bu that’s it.

Oh and when I was 17 I was in a group that shot a pellet gun we all got charged but when it came to court all charges against me were dropped!

All so long ago, do you guys think It will effect me?

I’ve been to the police staton and checked my record and they seem think it’s shouldn’t be a problem

I failed for having a conviction for running on a football pitch (only received a fine). I never thought I'd fail for that so who knows if you will or not. Just declare everything, hope for the best and be prepared to appeal.

All I can say mate is declare it, be honest and upfront, if they reject it then appeal with character references, mitigation ect.

after reading all this I’ll definitely declare all, spoke to ARCO today and I’m awaiting for a copy of my criminal record to come through to see what exactly is on it, they also said I might be able to get the air rifle thing removed.

I wouldn’t think such a little thing as a pitch invasion would of been that big of a deal! How long ago was it?

I’ll start getting my references sorted now just incase.

Thanks for the advice guys it’s made me a little nervous but as nothing I’ve done is that serious I’m hoping even if I have to appeal I’ll be ok
