Hi all I just passed out at Newbold today. I thought I would give you all an insight of what to expect. Your hours will be 10.30 till 5 on monday, 8 till 5 Tuesday to Thursday, and you do 8 till 12 on Friday. Once a week you will have to work until 7pm. You will be paid 37hrs and it includes the 17% shift payment. Take home after pension
is 1400 ish. You get a cooked breakfast in the morning, then lunch is grap and go style, then you get an evening meal. Bar opens in evening from 7. You will need to do two exams, one mid term and one final exam, as well 8 workbooks. The course is heavily classroom based. There is no passing out ceremony and your intake will be the largest ever, over 300 poelts. Tips....take a radiator bleed key with you. You will be in the not so good accommodation to start with then in much better accommodation in weeks 5-10. You will do c+r training and be assessed at the end of this. Other assessments include cell searching, unlocking, rub down searches, full searches, handcuffing and a.f.c. searches.
Claim expenses when your there using the computers, make sure you get access password s from your prisons.

Good luck hope this helps a bit

Thank you very much both of you for that input, really helpful!

I did my last shift at work yesterday, so a nice Christmas break before I start. Can't wait!

And congrats on your graduation! :slyay:

Yeah thats what I thought. Unless people are idiots that prat around whilst on campus. I cant see why anyone would want to go through this whole process and waiting for months and then prat around. I plan on getting my head down with reasonable laughs.

bring it on cant wait just to get started now.

U gonna do well porecruit as redruth said no one will fail if they keep to the rules etc I think there were a few who decided to leave part way through the course as it was not for them etc but to re-iterate wats been said every single person who sits the final exam passes even if you magically just get the 70% pass mark

actually 70% is a pretty high pass mark

I'm pretty sure the 'O' levels I did had a 35% pass mark
the new GCSE maths paper has set its lowest ever pass marks, as students need to answer just 15 per cent of questions correctly to achieve the equivalent of a grade C.

Leading exam boards have drastically lowered the number of marks required for a pass, as experts warn that the education establishment is "fooling itself" into thinking students have done better than they actually have.
good luck everybody who is about to start POELT :slby: and keep us posted :slcoo:
