Prison Officer 2 to Prison Officer 1

Post by snodders2519 » Sun Jan 30, 2011 7:24 am

Hi Guy's

My S.O. attended a management conference on Friday presented by Michael Spur.

On his return he informed me that Mr Spur said that Prison Officer 2's WILL progress to Prison Officer 1's.

Can anyone else that attended confirm this statement, or anyone who may know anything further in regard to this subject get in touch.

Cheers
Snodders

A governor stated to me that he heard that you should be promoted to Officer One after completion of NVQ / Probation...

Officer 1 still doesn't exist. Untill it has been verified exactly what the Officer 1 role will be and what the pay scales will be its all still a bit up in the air.

If I remember rightly it was wrote into the new t&cs that there would be progression from Officer 2 to Officer 1. At the moment its a big fat hurry up and wait from NOMS. I think the new Officer 1 details are being released in April. May be wrong though.

I will back Mac up on this as we are at the same nick. Had a chat with the number1 gov in the gym about it a month ago and he hadnt heard anything. I'll ask again when he is next in the gym. I think we are lucky in a way to have a Number1 that wants to interact with the staff, often joining us in the gym and on the football pitch.

Of course they will, that's why the new grades were created. What you need to remember is that not all Officer 2's will become Officer 1's as each jail will only need a set number and you mustn't confuse Officer 1 with the old Prison Officer gradee that gets paid £29k, they are not the same.

Pay scales for the NEW Officer 1 grade have not been published at all, nor have the requirements to become one.

If the difference between the two roles is that prison officer1's will do 9-5 roles like omu will this mean loss of unsociable hours meaning a possible pay cut, hmm get promoted get paid less think i'd stick to being a landing officer

I suspect this will be the case.
