POELT Training Re-Start

Post by Taff86 » Thu Apr 30, 2020 2:27 pm

Hey all, was talking to a cm in my establishment today who was down to be my trainer on my poelt course. He told me that one poelt course is starting back up on monday as a trial through this lockdown.

He said that what is the difference between the poelts working as osg in prisons all over the uk where covid19 is around and being on a course training to be a officer?

They will look at this trial to make a decision where to go from, went on to say that they will finish off the poelts who are 7/8 weeks into it to finish them off then work down the list.

So who knows :slbli: could be sooner than we all think before we get to start/continue our training.

Yes I am part of a group of 6 who started the beginning of April and have been doing OSG duties since then. The officer in charge of our training didn't want us in but was over ruled by the number one who then didn't arrange anything for us to do. There's been one more since us, and another 6 coming in the next week or so. who knows where we're all going to be put and what we'll do.

There's too many of us to do OSG stuff properly because we have to have a maximum of 3 in an office, there's more than enough staff to do the limited work and we're not supposed to do anything prisoner facing so it's been really frustrating. We've spent a month scratching around trying to find stuff to do and have just done odds and sodds all over the place. We've had the odd bit of training here and there, but I agree, there's no difference to us being on a course of smaller groups than stuck in the Prison all together where social distancing is practically impossible.
