Can you get a haircut at your prison?

Post by Redruth1234 » Thu Aug 03, 2017 7:25 am

I am curious, is it possible to get a haircut in prison as a prison officer ? Obviously the prisoners are getting haircuts but can the staff get one too?

Question is would u trust them to do it without scalping you. Id seriously think about trust issues here n one thing you cant do is trust the prisoners.

I would imagine it depends on local policy etc as you'll be on the clock when prisoners are out of cell and they will be locked up when you're on break etc. So effectively you'll be getting paid to have a free haircut. :sldv:

And who wants to spend the remainder of shift itching and scratching from all the little hairs that have fallen down the back of your shirt !! I think I'd rather stick to having it cut when off shift !

When you have your breaks as a prison officer do you have to stay on site or can you nip into town or the local shops ?

This would very much be frowned upon. You get your hair cut on your own time, with your own money :slno:

I know of an open prison... you can go in as a member of public to there hairdressers where they are training. It's like £2 per haircut I think

I suppose if an official training course was running then they would need bodies.... But there are plenty of prisoners.
Would I want a prisoner who I dont know milling around my head with clippers and scissors??? Errrr no... Big fat no.

Apart from your ment to be working, not getting a freebie... What if it all kicked off mid haircut?

When I originally said can you get a haircut in prison my thinking was thus....prisoners get their hair cut obviously, so who cuts it? If it's fellow in mates fair enough, of course I would not want mine cut by them. However if there was civilian barbers etc , could you have yours cut after your shift?

Prisoners cut other prisoners hair.

As for a barber or hairdressers on site, run by civilians, no
