Congrats again to you all, you have made it to the landings, still in vetting but reading this thread has given us all an incite of what to expect when we start. :slcl:
It’s too bad that stupidity isn’t painful. Ignorance is one thing, but our society thrives increasingly on stupidity

Start of vetting to the call 17 weeks 2 days.

I'm now nervous, yet certainly looking forwards to getting started first thing Monday morning and starting to get stuck into the job to see what its really like.
Well done Andy on passing your POELT!
I am sure you will be ok, just be yourself but with a bit more confidence.
Just remember you are live - if anyone says anything like 'what is the worst that could happen' or 'things can't get any worse'...
Anything can happen and things can and ...often do get worse!
Good luck, relax and enjoy!
I don't have money.
But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career.
Skills that make me useful for people like you.

It definitely felt good to receive the certificate and go back to the establishment on Monday . Everyone , well done . Thank you for as we did it as a team , and we will bring that team working spirit to the landings . To those revising - you will be surprised how much you really know after 10 weeks . Keep in touch and those going on landings on Monday- remember safety first

Yep Rocky mate, it was after this boards association, poetic justice that the last person on sight of leaving Newbold was that of the very first person and member I met being yourself with your big friendly smile and repeated man hug!. I will forever remember you my friend and will 100% keep in touch with you. You will always be welcome in my home if ever you are in my area as will a few others who have helped and supported me and I like to think of as friends!.

Well done all, congrats on passing and enjoy the landings next week...
Just out of curiosity as I'm sure most of us due to start a poelt in the near future would love to know..

What was the population of the course and what was the outcome with pass rates?

Again well done!!

The population of the course is hard to say.. Newbold Revel will very soon play host to 300 POELTS at any one time. In addition, new POELT sites are popping up literally all over the country. I haven't a clue how big they are or what their intake will be. But assuming they wouldn't bother opening a site for a handful of students, I think 1000 is a fair rough guess.

Pass rates are dependent as well. Our group had the hardest batch of the 6 batches of exam papers. Although I think we were all convinced we'd failed I believe only 2/3 had to retake it out of 120 of us, but they were supported by tutors and got through it easily.

We heard that 5\6 failed the final exam but unsure on how the resit went for them, guessing they will likely have passed but never got word on that. I think the pass rate without resit for the as said hardest paper seems to be about 95+%. 120 started on our intake, 6 sections, but several never made it to the end for various reasons, though our tutor informed us on the last day that the section I was part of was the only section that every person who started day 1 was still there on the last day, started with 20 and finished with 20.

Thank you both for you great answers and feed back. Very Helpful and good to know such a high pass rate with the support from tutors to the officers that do not pass.

I guess, it costs a lot of money, time and resources for any 1 person, so they would want people to pass.

Rumour has it the costs are in the region of 20k (including wages by that point) invested in us by the time we get to final exam week. So not in anyone's interest to see us fail, hence a more "friendly" resit if you fail by just a few percent. Sure, near all pass the resit, but if people don't take the course seriously, take the lessons and exam for granted and generally fuck up to the point where they might be well over 10% short of the minimal pass grade then I'd question that persons ability to justify any further investment and suitability to the job?.

Don't mean to sound harsh, but POELT isn't the 10 week party some like to act like it is to the point they don't take things seriously, its often very hard and demanding work that takes a hell of a lot out of you both physically and mentally. And my god, I'll be man enough to say I had days where I was literally crying in my room at times due to how hard and mentally draining I sometimes found certain parts of cause to find I was still coming short. Sure, many find it far easier than others, but it annoys me to see and hear that others just don't take it seriously at all. In all honesty, it was only really the last week I can honestly say I started to relax at all.

Well funny you say that, I had read some posts on here previously about people getting pissed of the evening times, not taking it seriously.

Why would you put yourself through a long winded process to then piss about when it comes down to the most vital part of the process?

I plan to work my as of!

I would like to think i would be atleast close to the percentage after 10 weeks of learning.

How long do you get for the final exam? Is there plenty of time or is it tight schedule?

The mid term exam was 90 minutes for us, and the final exam 2 hours. Not really many more questions in the final exam as such, maybe a hand full for each section of the paper. Plus you get 10 minutes reading time before the exam starts. To be honest, the exam time is plenty, some can do it in near half the time, but we were told to pace ourselves and use up all the time, which I did.
