Well done to everyone on passing the final exam!!!

I will be going into week 5 at Newbold this Monday - any tips for the exams especially the mid-term as I've got that on Thursday!

Thanks in advance!!!
Make sure you're revising all the bits when your tutor says "you may need to know this".

Brush up on your Prison Rules and legislation related to certain activities i.e searching, use of force etc.

Learn your definitions of a Catagory A B C D as one of them will probably make an appearance.

Certainly know your call signs, they will definitely come up.

On the "fill in the blanks" the missing words will be proper buzz words i.e it won't be 'the' 'or' 'and' etc.

Unfortunately with fill in the blanks the words have to be exact, however similar your answer is to the correct answer it won't be accepted.

But just relax and enjoy it, it will tell you where you are with your knowledge and doesn't count towards your diploma.

:)

The mid term isnt a pass or fail situation but more an intended indication of where you are at under a final exam like paper and conditions. As said the mid term comprises of true and false questions and multiple ABCD choice type questions. Then short answer questions, scenarios and missing words statements.

Now you have the complete waste of time that is week 10. Then get on the landings and realise the vast majority of what you learned is complete bollocks

Queen B feel free to message me i don't mind popping along and given you some revision material. As for the mid term the layout of the paper is brilliant and helps no end towards the 70%

Back atcha Rocky! 😘 QueenB - I found - as did alot of people - question cards, firing them back and forth each evening worked. Very importantly - the night before your exam - if you must revise - set a couple of hours to do so then spend the rest of the evening doing something you enjoy like playing cards with your buddies, reading (non course material) watching Netflix, anything that's unrelated. Don't cram the night before, it hinders more than it helps 😉😘
Applied 16/04/2017, passed RAD 16/05, submitted vetting 18/05, got the call 07/07, Contract received and role accepted 18/07, familiarisation visit 19/07, induction week 24/07, POELT Sunningdale 31/07, Newbold 31/07 night, thanks 'ss' :slcoo:

That's passed quickly, started vetting a week to 10 days before you guys started training and have been following the thread as you went.

Congrats to everyone who passed and good luck to those of you who have a resit today next week you will all be back at your establishments ready to put what you have learnt in to practice. :slyay: :slcl:

Final part of vetting for me now, just need to wait for the call in the next month or so and then negotiate starting next June.
It’s too bad that stupidity isn’t painful. Ignorance is one thing, but our society thrives increasingly on stupidity

Start of vetting to the call 17 weeks 2 days.

Well, not long home after the biggest and in many ways hardest journey of my life. 10 weeks completed and thankfully passed what has been 1 of the most amazing times of my life. I've met some amazing people without whose help and support I would never have made it to the end of these 10 weeks in 1 piece. Not going to mention names but I thanked some of those whose support has ment the most to me face to face today, others who I should also have thanked I would apologise to as either I missed or just forgot in the moment.

But I'm now nervous, yet certainly looking forwards to getting started first thing Monday morning and starting to get stuck into the job to see what its really like.

Kind of unclear as I seem to be on 2 weeks shadowing as are many from different establishments from what we discovered, but a mix of both. For me at least, the first week is regular 07.30 to 17.00 odd with a half day Friday similar to induction week. The second week looks to be the proper regular shifts as if live but still shadowing and a bit of outstanding IT stuff to get done week 2 as well. But hours look set to add up to the correct 37 per week anyway.
