Couldn't agree more, well said.

Very good point. How about those that refuse to work on the VP wing because they have kids ? The fact is we all have to work in areas where we don't fancy working. We work where the average member of the public would fear to tread in the first place.

It's the black humour that gets me through the day?

There was something that came out about 2 years ago from Spurr re objections on the grounds of conscience in regards to any duty or task that a Prison Officer may be required to fulfill. The gist of it or the point of it was that if there were any conscientious objections ...well...not directly said...but inferred....find yourself a new job.

Otherwise be the totally neutral professional we pay you to be.
Always remember; the law and justice; never the twain shall meet. They are seperate and have nothing in common with each other. Bit like being married!!

Thank you for all your comments guys and with the way the topic has gone, I am now reminded of why I do love this job (bearing in mind in 20 years time I will probably hate it but would be gutted to leave)
Leave your personal feelings at the gate and let the dark humour carry you through the day. Im detailed as cleaning officer on my wing 99% of the time so I doubt I will have to sit through many prayer sessions and if I do Im sure there will be someone willing to swap for the price of a cream cake :slcu: and if that fails I will just sit at the back quietly reading a copy of nuts and eating a BLT :slbg:
