COVID vaccinations for officers

Post by Bearguy »

Here’s one.....

Does anyone believe that now there is a COVID vaccination rollout, that it will be made mandatory for prison officers ??

I think officers should definitely get the vaccine. You have to think, unless you're in YOI, youre going to be coming across people who are old or suffer with health conditions. So it would be sensible to vaccinate staff in order to protect vulnerable prisoners.

It should not be mandatory for prison officers, or anyone to take this vaccine. Let people make the choice for themselves

I agree nothing should be mandatory but I’m glad we are moving closer to opening pubs!

There is no way that this ‘vaccine’ should be forced upon anyone.

The whole thing just doesn’t add up to me like....,

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain’s government will not force people to have vaccinations against COVID-19, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Monday.

“There will be no compulsory vaccination. That’s not the way we do things in this country,” Johnson told a news conference.
The prime minister says no compulsory vaccination but it wouldnt surprise me to see a policy come out from HMP advising officers to have it, we will see !

I think we will find that the government will make it very difficult for people who don’t want the vaccine, to access certain services.

My partners due to have it.... NHS nurse.

I'm in the fire service now and no plans for us to be priority however I think been a prison officers means you'll have alot of contact in enclosed environment with different people.

I've been out for a few years now and from memory my landing could change residents within a few days.

Just wondering if anyone who works within the prison service could advise whether this has been made mandatory for prison officers? I'm due to start training towards the end of the year, however I feel very strongly about being able to choose if I have the vaccine or not.

I would hope not, as I don’t intend on being vaccinated although I can already see they are making things very difficult for people who are not vaccinated which very annoying, however a cousin of mine is a midwife who hasn’t been vaccinated and her hospital hasn’t made her have it

Thanks Virgo. I'm not anti-vaccine. However, I prefer to wait until the trials and tests are finished and it's been approved. I belive putting something permanently into your body should be everyone's own personal choice. I

Yes most defiantly but I find we not really being allowed to have our choice as even though we are not blatantly being made to have it, in some ways it’s being forced by making things difficult like travel etc for people who are not vaccinated
