Countersignatory Reference Help!

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and currently preparing for my fitness test on the 14th of May. However, I'm having difficulty completing the counter signatory section on the vetting application. I'm self-employed and all the people I know who are on the list of acceptable people I'm either related to or they're friends of my husband. I'm reluctant to put "friend" under the "how do you know this person?" as I'm unsure as to whether this will be acceptable or not. I did call the applications helpline to ask about adding my tutor but since she's known me less than 12 months I was advised to use someone else.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, I've used my partner's mum and I've not heard that it wasn't allowed. I completed my vetting application on 26th march!

Thank you for your reply. I'm thinking i May ask my husbands line manager as I've known him a while and we're not related. Just worried incase it isn't enough but maybe I'm overthinking.

I used my dental practice owner she is my friend and that hasn’t been a problem so far! X

Thanks again for the reply Chez32. I'm going to complete the form tonight and hopefully it will be OK. The not knowing part of the process is driving me a little crazy! From what I have saw on the forum I'm not the only one.

I used my partner’s friend as mine and my vetting passed all ok, you should be fine

I initially had my partners father as my countersignatory and they rejected it as relationship was ‘too close’
Had to change to a family friend instead

That's great! It's given me a little more confidence that my husbands line manager will be OK to use. Then I'm onto the waiting game like many of you!
