Hey. So i finally passed vetting yesterday and it says they will be in touch shortly.
Any idea how long the wait is?
So bored of waiting, i applied for the job last jan!

Oh guys I can’t lie, I am so jealous of you all waiting to start! I was supposed to start yesterday (4th) but had to turn it away last minute due to financial reasons.. I guess this wasn’t my time to start and my time will come in the future, but I am still super jealous! I was in a grumpy mood yesterday as I knew where I wanted to be but just couldn’t so was bit of a rough day..

Jonathan mine took 6 weeks for the call but could be as little as 24 hours. Hang in there buddy the worst is over and recruitment appears to be working as normal.

Jcox I feel for you. I hope sooner rather than later your in a position to go again. It’s horrible when your life is controlled by finance but you’re not the only one. I’m taking a pay cut it’s a tough pill to swallow. You will get on the landings one day.

Bearguy good luck with the VARC you passed the harder face to face version I’m sure it will be no problem for a person with your people skills. Hope you mange to find a temporary job in the mean time.

I’ve just received the call 18th Jan start and I’m not at newbold but my training is starts on 1st of February so I would say it’s going ahead as planned

Aww JCOX no way!
That’s gutting for you mate, I remember you giving me advice about my appeal many moons ago!
Hopefully you can get sorted and start ASAP!
And honestly mate they take as long as they take, there’s generally no clear cut timeline with them as it’s based on training availability etc. And with covid and the lockdown etc. It could take a little longer!
Hopefully it won’t be that long for you, keep us updated on how you get on!

Well, what a mess all of this has turned into. I dont expect training at the home prison, will prepare anyone for this role.

What I do expect, is that due to under staffing, "Trainees" will be thrown in at the deep end, expected to work and cover those off sick, or isolating, ultimately fuelling the already concerned rates of staff turnover.

It's very concerning.

I had my start date at my establishment moved, still waiting a new start date, after completing my medical and fitness again.
