Hi there everyone does anyone know if a impending lockdown will have an impact on our start date/training. I'm starting on the 11th of January don't want this process to be delayed any further.

It may have an affect on the training centres but they have to honour your start date so we may be put on OSG roles if they are closed, I’m sure they’ll let us know as soon as they know though

Did you have any trouble getting through to priority recruitment when you received the call? I had an email last week saying i missed the call and have tried ringing them about 10 times to no answer I've also emailed them requesting a call back an nothing!

If you have your contract, it will have to be honoured. It may well be your training could be delayed.
I’ve heard of some new starters working at their jail for months before they could start training.

Honestly mate they’re a nightmare! I had to email them about my fitness re-take (2 weeks before the re-take date) and I received my email a week after I received my formal offer, have you tried the sscl number I know it costs but you will be more likely to get an answer that way?

I’m starting on 11th jan today and no it won’t affect your start date. You will be an employee as a key worker

Covid restrictions will not effect Newbold, Newbold is a college and is staying open, unless all colleges close. I am there at the minute

What’s it like atm with all the restrictions is there much to do after training is finished? Gym and bar shut aswell??

Everything is closed, the gym and bar. I think the actual area is in tier 4 so the outside is closed too. There is nothing to do outside of class.

Don't expect things to ease up in March.

If you ask me. these lockdowns aren't about stopping the virus, they're used to control you.

Do you really think the government are gonna give us back our freedom so quickly?
