Hi Craig it's priority recruitment who sort contracts, start dates and training out, not the normal people, also they only work from 16:00 to 22:00

I start 2nd nov then training 16th Nov, are you going to Newbold. I have always had a company car and don’t fancy carting a suitcase around on buses or trains. How easy is it to get to Newbold on public transport, thinking of buying a car for ease.
I am not going to Newbold , my training will be at HMP Leyhill wich is only 40 minutes away ,thanks God.

Think you may need business insurance adding to your car insurance policy (if you don’t already have it) in order to claim mileage. I’m certain this came up when I went through poelt previously. Although I didn’t claim mileage personally due to proximities, one of our tutors did bring this up with our group. Worth making some enquires to be on the safe side. Congratulations on the start date :slyay:
Thank you mate, Congratulations to you too ,i saw you got a call aswell. That bussiness insurance won't be a problem if they will ask for it.

Thanks mate, appreciate it. Its probably something you’d need anyway if you were travelling to different establishments for PP or hospitals for bed watches etc as your normally only covered for travelling to and from your normal place of work.

I dont think they would expect you to use a personal vehicle for work purposes, you would most likely go to your establishment and then be driven there by an osg or duty driver? And I thought you only need business/work insurance if your going to more than one place of business per day if your training is in one location for a week then that's one place of work?

Just going off what I’ve been told and read about previously, nick. If you go to the search function and type in ‘business insurance’ there’s a fair few discussions on the subject from over the years.

Ahh it won't affect me as an osg, only if I progress to a prison officer role.

Where I worked before, people were on detached duty, they had hotels booked for them and I’m sure their fuel would have been paid towards their own cars too.

Congrats jcox, bet you’re over the moon. Definitely struck gold training wise. Will you be doing the new apprenticeship or poelt?

The guy on the phone wasn't 100% sure but seems to think its the old style as apprenticeships have been brought to a halt. He said it will be confirmed in my start date confirmation email that will come through this evening at some point. Will let you know what it says.

Sound. Wonder why the apprenticeship has been halted :slch:, that’ll be twice now I think.
