Hmm interesting and conflicting.. I spoke with someone from PR tuesday and they said they will start giving out start dates in the next few weeks but they are clearing the backlog of officers currently working as OSGs as a priority. Then as a second priority they will be starting "red sites" then next they would be starting people in order of date vetting was passed..

Seems like each day been told something totaly different :P :P :P :P :?

Is there a way to find out which ones are red sites?

Hi, I phoned tonight and it’s all Prisons. The people who phone are given a list everyday to call. So could be anytime now for whichever prison you have applied for.
So basically if you keep ringing PR they'll give you a start date?

Try to ring PR just for them to say they'd ring me back, which they haven't done. Gets frustrating when theres such a poor level of communication.

Wayhay. They do pay mileage but double check with your establishment which rate to claim. It should be 46p a mile but I've heard some prisons are funny and want you to claim public transport rate which is 25p per mile.

Think you may need business insurance adding to your car insurance policy (if you don’t already have it) in order to claim mileage. I’m certain this came up when I went through poelt previously. Although I didn’t claim mileage personally due to proximities, one of our tutors did bring this up with our group. Worth making some enquires to be on the safe side. Congratulations on the start date :slyay:

I start 2nd nov then training 16th Nov, are you going to Newbold. I have always had a company car and don’t fancy carting a suitcase around on buses or trains. How easy is it to get to Newbold on public transport, thinking of buying a car for ease.

Depending on how far away from Newbold you are your establishment may organise a hire car

Is just over 2hrs drive, a few hours on a train. Does a bus stop right outside Newbold or is it tricky on public transport? Anyone going Newbold on 16th November
