Re: Start dates
I was offered an OSG job last year but decided against it last minute, due to the travel and salary. Priority recruitment were quite flexible with start dates because the training for OSG isn’t like Poelt, it was a two week course that was residential but a lot of it can be done in-house I would assume...
Poelt is different because they can’t offer start dates until training courses start up again.

Re: Start dates
Seems daft that, doing a fitness test even though your still in date?!! Why do you have to do it? More time wasting it seems...!JCOX4 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 4:29 pmHad a txt through today asking me to retake fitness test. Rang recruitment and they are getting everyone to redo fitness tests as they are expecting start dates through imminently and they want everyone's fitness test up to date.
Hopefully this is kind of a good sign, even if annoying, mine doesn't expire until November anyway but still have to redo it now.

Re: Start dates
Worried about people sat around the house during furlough, no gyms open, no motivation = weight gain
Re: Start dates
Yeh it is really annoying.. I have got it booked for 27th July but may cancel it as its a 90 mile journey each way! I might just wait for something closer to home.

Re: Start dates
Just thought, I’d you did your last fitness test in November, depending on start date ,it will help you stay in date for fitness tests. So probably does makes sense for people who are coming up to a year to get the fitness done.
Re: Start dates
Gyms open the end of this week and the government wants civil servants back in the office by August. Can't really see the excuse for not training prison staff after that, unless I'm missing something
Re: Start dates
Non residential training should have been continued throughout this pandemic, MOJ pulled the shutters down on everything and went into panic mode.
They cancelled all the training but still wanted new recruits to do OSG duties, not logical in my opinion ?!

Re: Start dates
Yeah it makes 0 sense, must also be pretty bad for the prison that offered the job as surely they are running without sufficient staff
Re: Start dates
Evening All ,
Finally got round the whole log in problem -- Couldn't find an intro section so aploigies if its in the wrong place .
Last message I received was this- " We shall be in contact with you shortly to let you know the next stage of the recruitment process." - from what I'm reading here, am I just waiting for THE call now , and as it just a waiting game again - SSCL have only sent me " Well done for waiting " texts

Re: Start dates
Hi all, I am a poelt that started 27th April but have been doing both osg duties and also shadowing on the wings. I have finally got a training start date of 7th Sept at Lindholme.
I feel these 3 months have been a fantastic eye opener in that it has given me a chance to see and do some parts of the job.
Really looking forward to getting stuck in to the training and going live november

Re: Start dates
Sounds like it Craig, congratulations!how long were you in vetting?
Re: Start dates
Did ARC in March mate , and vetting was probably around 3 weeks , my status changed around 2 weeks ago , but still no call , after speaking to sscl today they said a Manager will call me to tell me my start date , but cant give a definite answer as to when due to them not knowing what's going on with Training Centers. I really want this job , but with Rent and bills etc, its hard to just sit and wait without looking elsewhere.
I did see they updated their " Corona Virus Update " on the GOV UK site though , so who knows...... How you getting on pal
