What score did you get at your ARC?
Re: What score did you get at your ARC?
In preparation for the fitness test, I spent 15-20 minutes, 3 times a week on a stepper.
Also, I measured out the distance for the bleep test on some grass outside, put the test on YouTube, and practiced that a couple of times a week, so I knew I was capable.

Re: What score did you get at your ARC?
If your BP is over 170 you cannot take the test. Mine shot up to 177 and 179. I’ve never had such high readings! I put it down to being anxious. I also had mine done at 4.30 in the afternoon, I hadn’t eaten since 9am and did lots of waiting around, including travelling.
I aim to be more relaxed next time!
I just got an email stating that I passed the ARC but must pass the medical/ fitness test within 8 weeks.
I shall await an email with an invitation to the centre.

Londonlad what was your DIA? I’m all good on the SYS is always under 170 but DIA is high, saying that today one of my tests showed 74 so maybe the tables are starting to work a bit surprised as only started yesterday. Hopefully DIA max is 100 instead of 80
And nice one passing so far
I’m sure this time pass the blood pressure as you know what to expect! I heard that randomly sucking a hard sweet when getting tested helps with relaxing!

Not sure what my DIA was.
I’ve been testing mine at home and it’s anywhere between 125- 140. I’m on average 85-90 dialostic.
So was sky high at the ARC Centre!
I think taking calms, or something similar may help!
A chill pill lol

Good idea! I’ll let you know if the department come back to me and confirms what the BP max is. Fingers crossed it is 170/100 definitely anything that can help it lower is worth a try, keep me updated I’m sure you will smash it

Passed the medical/ fitness test last Friday. Still high to begin with managed to pass it! It’s white collar syndrome with me, nothing I can do about it! The staff were good at encouraging me to relax so that was nice!
The fitness test is nothing to worry about although it is done every year for Prison officers until retirement!

Yes London lad that’s great news congratulations, you must be over the moon!! Great you had good staff there.
Do you remember your readings?my Avg is now 124/84 so it’s getting lower but I’m sure soon as I’m going for the actual test it will go super high.
So happy you passed man

Thanks Jambo! Yes was a relief! When is your ARC day?
Just to add, that you must pass the other parts of the ARC before you do the fitness test. It consisted of two role plays, which were prisoner related, an interview and a maths and report writing exam.

Londonlad my ARC is 5th May! No to far away but just far enough to make sure my fitness is on point.
It’s good the the fitness test is after that, get all the bits out the way 1st and push it the final stretch.
Did you get a offer on the same day?

Re: What score did you get at your ARC?
No got an email saying congratulations I’ve passed the ARC and that I’m now on the merit list. I’m going to ask if I can also be put on a merit list for another prison.
You can be on the waiting list for different prisons can’t you? They won’t remove you from the original choice?

Re: What score did you get at your ARC?
Yes you can transfer your scores to multiple establishments
Re: What score did you get at your ARC?
68.33 for me and on the merit list for full Sutton. Can’t help but feel covid-19 will slow down the whole process but patience is a virtue and God knows I could do with the extra time to focus on my fitness!
Who knows a West Yorkshire prison might start recruiting in the time it takes for this to pass.

Re: What score did you get at your ARC?
Just got my results today after re-taking the fitness test, couldn’t take it the first time due to the dreaded white coat syndrome. Thankfully it was still high but beneath the required level!
Passed everything with the ARC score of 85. Pretty pleased with that, not sure what the benchmark is though, placed on the merit list for Lindholme. Fingers crossed things happen sooner rather than later, new arrival baby boy needs spoiling!
Great community here, pleased to be a part of it.

Congratulations Hydrops
. With an ARC score of 85 I’d say you’ve excelled, as the max score was 80 when I took mine at the start of the year. Congrats on the newborn too
