With my pre-employment checks currently sat as unsatisfactory, what has happened to my space that was offered for my establishment? Would someone else now be offered that place? If my appeal is successful would my vetting restart but I have to go onto a merit list until a space comes available?

I’m not overly sure what will happen to the position that was yours but looking at the amount of vacancies going at the moment I don’t think you’ll struggle to get a space!

Any news on your appeal or anything else coming through yet?

No mate, took my letter to the post office and sent that NYE requesting further info on why I failed. The post office lady said it wouldnt be physically sent until today due to no post being collected due to new years day :slst:
From what I have read on here SSCL can take around 2 weeks to respond with reason for failing vetting. So im anticipating a loooong and boring wait.

You must be feeling very frustrated and disappointed :|

Little bit of advice with SSCL is to keep on their tail, give them a phone call and reminder once a week and keep in touch with them, they “aren’t the best” to put it terms that I wouldn’t lose my job over

Stick at it and feel free to PM me if you like with any details and I can play middle man to the guy who I’m training with and successfully appealed

Keep your chin up and don’t give up!

So I have called SSCL this morning for an update, they have received my letter asking for more detail and they have written there response and its due to go out end of this week. So annoying, the bloke said on the phone he can see the reason why on the screen but he just cant say..
You would think they would automatically send out a letter stating reasons why you have failed rather than you have to request why. :slnuts:

Very frustrating I know! Are they posting to you or sending out via email?
I had a bit of a disagreement over them contacting me about something and getting back to me...turns out they had replied by email and it was in junk folder!

Let us know how you get on

Good Morning all.
Bit of an update, no progress on my case yet still sitting with appeal panel but after speaking to a very helpfull lady at SSCL this morning some info that some may find usefull/helpful for the future.
Basically when completing vetting it is done in stages, starting with PNC check if anything flags with the PNC check it will be sent to approvals and compliance for review who will then decide if it is worthy of a rejected vetting or if it is ok and to continue with the rest if the vetting process.
This is why your online portal sometimes moves from "referred for decision" back to "pre employment checks in progress" and then back again.
I have also seen a lot of threads where people "dont know" or "cant rememeber" if they have had a been in trouble with the police. Do a subject access request for your PNC from ACRO. Its free, and it will send you ALL of the information the police hold on you. It will detail every caution, NFA, conviction, penalty notice, date of arrest and disposal given by the police or court. It even goes as into detail as to what hairstyle you had the day off arrest!! It takes upto 4 weeks to come through but at least you know you can give a full and true information on your vetting forms.
Hope this helps.
