What do you think? previous convictions

Post: # 137484Post JCOX4

Evening ladies and gents.. Im listing my previous convictions and want to know what you think my chances of passing vetting would be? Ive read many many many posts regarding this but none as sh*T as my past.. a few years ago when i was 16/17 (im now 30) I was hanging about with the wrong people. Felt like I had to do some stuff to fit in with them. Massively realise now the impact I had on peoples lives and how it must of effected them. With a family now myself I realise what I done was terrible and wish I could turn back time. Sadly I cant. Not looking for "you should never be a prison officer" you cant be trusted ect. And yes I know that its "each case is decided on its own"

1. Drink driving (court) 2010 ( I was 20)
2. Using threatening behaviour (court £100 fine) 2007 (I was 17)
3. Theft from motor vehicle (court reparation order 3 months 18 hours com service) 2007 ( I was 17)
4. Carried in vehicle taken without consent (court referral order 3 months) 2006 (I was 16 and im annoyed about this as I only admitted to it to stop my mates dad from getting fired, it was his work van and he took us for lessons in a car park)
5. Theft of cycle (referral order 3 months) 2006 (I was 16)
6. Damage to property (youth reprimand) 2005 ( I was 15)

I'd say as most of your convictions were many years ago and definitely spent in terms of regular jobs, that if you declare and explain them you may have a good chance but I might be worth calling SSCL to discuss all of them beforehand?

If you google their number and get yourself through to the recruitment team they'll be able to have a chat and advise you with a bit better knowledge (or so one would hope)

I concur with NOS

JCOX you said you passed your ARC and they must have known of your pre-cons then so that is a pretty good sign! you said you were coming from a store manager role £40k per year and I should a imagine a reference from them will mean a lot , REDEMPTION!! :slhe:

Thanks for the motivation people. :slhehe: Gives me a little hope. I have a number for SSCL but it cost a small fortune to call them. Do you know of an alternative free number?

I’ve experienced this and the £36 extra on my phone bill for calling them...perhaps just call and ask them to ring you back as I’m not aware of another number

Morning all,
I have received an email this morning saying my vetting level is enhanced basline standard. Is this the usual level or is it a higher check due to my history?
Cheers and merry christmas :D

Vetting can take 12 weeks, they say to allow that but some people have waited a hell of a lot longer so don’t stress now

Remember the time of year too and the vetting people arent likely to be working now until early January, sit back and enjoy your Christmas then get on the case in new year. Even if vetting fails you can appeal and get through, guy I'm training with had a very similar thing and he’s all good now after an appeal

Have a good Christmas :slsm:

You’ll find it chops and changes a fair bit during vetting, it’s quite frustrating but I think it’s down to all the elements involved, referees doing bits as and when they do and so on
You may have put a previous job in to end 31st of a month but your employer put down you finished on a slightly different date and then your personal reference needs to cover the small gap etc

Just hang in there with it and you’ll get a call when you least expect it, Mine was about 8pm after I’d been in from work and was watching soaps about 3 months earlier than expected too!
