Failed vetting appeal

Post by J4k300 » Mon Sep 30, 2019 7:31 pm

My vetting failed just short of 2 months ago for an OSG role due to a past employer not returning a reference! After chasing this they returned this reference and sscl confirmed that they had received this and it had been passed onto the appeals panel to make a decision on. I’ve still not heard anything and sscl now can’t give me an update on where I stand as they say it is out of their hands, does anyone have any idea on when I am likely to hear something, or have an alternate contact number that will be able to give me an update on my appeal?

Did you hear anything/how did you get on?
Currently going through the appeal myself and it’s driving me crazy! 😊

I thought SSCL could check your work history by checking HMRC records? Therefore a reference wouldn’t necessarily be needed..

Londonlad
They only check references if the dates you give don’t match up to the ones hmrc have for you working there 😊

Hi guys so reading into this to they get references or just check hrmc? I was dismissed for walking out of a job that I told them I was going to, and got the other manager to come in but and not paying for a drink even though as GM we didn't have to. I know it would look bad of a reference so just wondering do that actually contact all old jobs for the last 5 years

I did actually quit the job and put in a appeal to overturn the decision but never heard anything back so I'm not sure what to say.

As stated on here, I believe they check the references with HMRC records. So they may not contact the company directly if the records match.

So I emailed recruitment regarding my vetting yesterday.
I got a reply saying they can see that my file is being worked on and they’re waiting for a reference.
I know I worded a company name slight differently on my work history , I hope everything is ok with it.
