It’s ok SWM I still love you 😂.

Glass door might be your best bet for salaries if that’s what’s you’re interested in. It depends on area too.

yes agreed, part of the problem is that we have Scottish Prison service, we have NIPS and we have HMP and we private prisons all of which pay differently

the best we can do is find average figures, unless an actual S.O comes forward and tell us which one of those 3 they work for and what their gross pay is :slhehe:

so with your average prison officer on £27,280
and your average Governor on £45,000
a good guess for average Senior Officer would be £36,140 :slby:

Falk, that is absolute nonsense, you should know better being an ex copper. The annual pay review board is where you will find the pay scales for all ranks across all services Police, Prison or even Armed Forces. The pay scales were published on this very forum when the pay rise was announced Sept.

Newton, change the record pal, you haven’t searched the forum correctly as all of the information you asked about has been mentioned in numerous threads. Out of respect for the Admin on here I said I was done with this but you had to drag me back in by feeling the need to try to explain for a 3rd time that you don’t know how to use the search function or how to narrow things down if you didn’t get the answer you were looking for. It’s OK I got that from the first post, no need to tell me a second or third time that you couldn’t work it out.

I wish you all the luck in your new career, now I truly am done with this thread as no doubt you will try for a 4th time...and the outcome still will be the same.

Sorry I’ve posted about 5 threads over the past few days. I have looked online and on here but I can never find what I want to know (loads of other helpful information though).

Say you’re working in a London prison. Starting salary is say around 28k I think isn’t it?

What’s the next promotion you could get? Is it senior officer? What would the salary for that be? And how soon could it take to get into that role?

Obviously I know you wouldn’t get promotions instantly. I just wanted an idea on what the sort of time scales are and he salaries as it’s a job I’d be really keen to progress in. Thanks a lot 😊
You might find the info you are looking for here

Thanks very much! At least some people on here are actually helpful and not just on to patronise, talk down to and argue with new people (won’t name names, don’t want to risk causing a row for the 4th time)

I was given a list of roles you could apply for when I went on my familiarisation visit at The Mount last October. I was advised you can apply for these after completing your one year probation service, these included; Senior Officer, Dog Handler, Personal Training Instructor and another that I cannot recall. These were all quoted as Band 4. Guess you could look at Band 4 roles on NOHMS vacancies to see salary scales?

Hope that helps.

@phoenix I’m going to use that phrase the next time my eldest pipes up. AMAZING.

50p won’t last long. He’ll pipe down soon.

Am I the only one who’s not in it for the money 🤦🏽‍♀️

Yes I have a dream to be promoted (have searched the forums so know what I can do there is so many posts on here about it. Search function is top right).

However, I haven’t even thought about pay yet I just want to make it on the landings first!

I’m taking a pay cut for this job! It’s all about the prospects and varied work life. Only promotion I can see myself going for is tornado.

does anyone know if you can opt out of prison pension? It works out to about £1.5k a year and I only plan to stay for 5 years so not worth contributing
