Question to EASYLIFE...........

I would have thought that a drawing pad would be more use in a planned intervention. If the video camera stops working ,you can knock up a quick sketch for the IMB.It is unlikely that the prison service management would be able to return them but they might be displayed at the next POA meeting.I also understand that the last time the SAS came into a prison for a takeout they wore trainers. Not recommended for everyday use. :slbg:

SAS in prison, when was that then????????????
The only one I can recall is 1987 at peterborough in scotland. Even then they swapped their H&K for 4' long staves, and just used CS.

I think you will find that its actually Peterhead jail that is in Scotland and not Peterborough (which is a shit hole, complete with its own private jail on the edge of east anglia)
Incidently, regarding the SAS and their involvement within the jail in 1987. Although they did carry and use wooden staves it is also widely known that they were also in possession of small arms should they have needed to use them. Fortunately they didnt, the mission was a complete success and the Officer who had been taken hostage (Jackie Stuart) was safely rescued.
The reason they wore training shoes (if you havent worked it out already) was because they entered via the roof, into the roof space and obviously did not want to give away their presence with heavy foot steps.

CS and stunnies were also used. A number of years ago the cons involved tried to sue the SAS for using too much force!!! They lost their case :slbg:

As to trainers -I thought the SAS would of worn MAGNUMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :slvo:

[quote="old sweat"]Looking at many of the questions by new/would be officers on this forum, quite a few are about 'kit/uniform'. I've said it before & I'll say it again (over 20 yrs in the job)
Don't run before you can walk!!!
footware- safety shoes or boots ( protective toe caps are a good idea)- the make is irrelevent, as long as they are comfy to wear( you could be wearing them for over 12 hrs
belts- you should be issued with them, if not then get a 50mm 3 point locking belt -try niton999/gladstone boots rings, toungue studs etc, you will only damage them or injure yourself if you get into a ruck- again think personal protection

OMG - Oh My God! Are these the questions that the young starters are now asking before even signing for the Roll for the first time!! I've been away a while but something seems to have changed :slsh: :slsh: :slsh:

I know this is probably a bit late to ask, espec as I am already working as a newbie in the prison service.
You are all going on about gloves and being safe in relation to needles etc.
When we do cell searches we are only given the normal gloves that you would use so that you don't get your hands dirty, by the time you have done 1 cell search they are ripped to shreads and need to get another paid.
Is there a name for the ones that we should be using at our establishment? :slsh2:

Use as many pairs as you need but remember, never put your fingers where your eyes can't see!
