Vetting and CCJ

Post by TrueBlueAngel »

I've had an interview to be a nurse at my local prison today and was successful. I know that my DBS will be fine but I didn't realise I would be vetted separately. I'm ashamed to say that I have an unpaid CCJ. Am I to assume that I will lose this great job opportunity? Is there anything I can do or do I accept I won't be accepted for the job?

Highly recommend you get it in an arrangement if possible and declare it in your vetting nothing to be ashamed about everyone has debt 😊

I agree with the above posts, get a arrangement so it shows your trying to pay it off, you should be fine then.

Thankyou, it was so long ago. It doesn't say on my credit history who it's even with so I don't know where to start looking to pay it off. I could pay it all off now if I knew.

No, it was so long ago, almost 6 years. Stupid, but there we are. If I knew who it was, I'd pay it :slsad:

Can I just if anyone who has had a CCJ, have they been successful with their vetting if they have had evidence of paying it off, as I intend to, of passing the vetting procedure? Thanks

So on your credit file there should be a case number and who the court is.. then as I said
Before call the court and then ask them if you can pay it if you can pay it in full... ask them for a certificate of satisfaction it’s about £14 pound then when you fill in vetting forms declare it and also send a copy of it in. This will not stop you passing vetting.

I’ve had 2 ccj within the past 3 years both in arrears paying them back (due to ongoing dispute) I put it on the vetting form the amount owed and that they’ll start being paid when I get back into Employment and I passed no questions asked. I wouldn’t worry to much I think they focus more on honest. All the best!

Thankyou, that makes me feel better about it. You've all been really helpful as this is the first time ever going into prison work. I hope I pass as I'm so excited about the thought of doing it.
