COVID-19 and POELT

Post by Es6fee  »

Hi guys and gals, hope everybody is having a lovely Easter weekend!

I finally received my email to book my call regarding my start date (booked in for Tues 6th April), and am just looking for some advice.

Has anyone on here done their POELT during COVID times? I'm a fairly confident person but I'm a huge overthinker. I'm just curious to get some insight about the POELT in COVID times.

If anyone can offer any advice/share their experiences, it would be massively appreciated!

Thanks in advance! :sllv:

The POELT is ran in a Covid secure way, each venue varies but will be ran to keep everyone as safe as possible by using social distancing and extra cleaning. for C&R training you will be required to wear face mask and gloves throughout.
Some establishments have a governors order stipulating the mandatory wearing of fluid resistant surgical masks at all times, except where you are sole working in an office or can safely socially distance.
You will probably receive Covid guidelines from your POELT tutor prior to your course.
Try not to worry about Covid, every part of the service is risk assessed including training.

They should just issue the rapid test kits to the poelt centres, they can test each trainee in the morning and if all is negative then happy days, no social distancing needed.
Not sure about you lot but i am sick to the back teeth of all this COVID now, restrictions, masks, “vulnerable” people, the list goes on!

We have lateral flow testing at my establishment but only twice weekly, have started offering them to take home too but still only twice weekly.
We have POELT training at my jail and the testing is open to them too.

Thanks all! I have my call tomorrow, just can't wait now! Silly question but what PPE do you have to wear in the prison?

Face masks in prison, then mask, gloves and plastic apron on escorts. Then all that and face visor when dealing with covid prisoners.
