Equipment in Prison
What equipment do you carry every day on duty?
What I mean is a baton, PAVA, stab vest etc?
What would you recommend for a newbie to get/buy before going into the establishment?

Re: Equipment in Prison
Great question love to know aswell.
Re: Equipment in Prison
At the moment I’ve invested in:
Tally Counter (for your roll count)
Mini Torch
Pocket Notebook
Pen(s)
ID card wallet
Some officers have bought their own tactical belt and do not use the prison issued one

Re: Equipment in Prison
I carry issued kit on a bought utility belt. My belt kit consists of Baton in holder, evidence/PPE pouch, key pouch & chain and fish knife in holder.
I have a led lenser which I've used on nights, pocket notebook and pens a plenty.
Consider a watch and decent boots although your supposed to wear issued unless you have a medical exemption.
I also have ID card wallet like big Mac.
Stab vests not routinely worn.

Shouldn’t have to pay for anything related to making the job easier, or at least be reimbursed, bloody MP’s claim for the far end of a fart on expenses
Re: Equipment in Prison
I carry baton, radio clip, fish knife, torch, got a pouch full of gloves. Waiting to be trained on rachet cuffs and pava once covid is over with. But pava is more of a hinderence got to keep removing it for escorts etc

Re: Equipment in Prison
Fish Knife is a safety knife with an enclosed blade shaped like a fish, used as a rescue tool if someone was to ligature (search Amazon and you will see various types). Bodycam is signed out daily when collecting radio. My establishment uses RFID tags attached to ID card to sign cams out.

Re: Equipment in Prison
Thank you for the reply I'll look into it anything else you would recommend?
Re: Equipment in Prison
I wouldn't say to have much more than the usual as your carrying it all around every day.
Re: Equipment in Prison
Do you think that covert stab vest is a overkill?

I’m not serving but I don’t believe you will be allowed those.
I got myself a cheap SKMEI watch off off eBay last year when I was due to start, it has been a damn fine servant, only about £6 too. Tough, durable, does the job of telling the time and date
