Anyone want to ask me a question
I'm currently doing my POELT training, the apprenticeship version. If anyone wants to ask me some questions I'll try my best to answer them

Is your training course residential or do you travel to the centre everyday??
Re: Anyone want to ask me a question
I started mid october and it's none residential, I drive there every day. It's not far from where I live though.
Re: Anyone want to ask me a question

Re: Anyone want to ask me a question
I start soon and doing the diploma... I didn’t think the apprenticeship started until next year?
Also how far are you from the training centre?
I’m worried that my course might change and I’ll have to drive the 65 miles everyday? Surely they wouldn’t expect that?

I've the same question as LondonLad reference the apprenticeship side of things --- my Contract says one thing , letter with start date says another ---
I start a week Monday , what were the first 2 weeks at the establishment like ? What was day one like ?
Are you enjoying it 1?

How are you doing apprenticeship if you started mid October? I was supposed to do the apprenticeship but they cancelled all until next year. I'm 4 weeks into 8 week poelt course doing the diploma although have been at my establishment since April

Re: Anyone want to ask me a question
My contract said NVQ level 3 but my joining instructions said diploma.
Apparently I’m doing the diploma.
With regards to training , they do still provide accommodation don’t they? Even with the current covid situation? I don’t fancy driving 65 miles each way to the training centre..

£292.50 a week in your pocket when you claim fuel londonlad
if you can't get accommodation
Re: Anyone want to ask me a question
Well I just wrote out a response but it doesn't seem to have posted
I'm doing a hybrid apprenticeship where I have to fill out workbooks and pass assessments rather than the old style exam.
First 2 weeks at my establishment was really good, even by the end of the 2 weeks shadowing I barely had any prisoners start a conversation with me, probably because I'm a new face. If you have confidence and a personality you should do fine. Although I will add your experience will vary massively depending on your establishment.

Re: Anyone want to ask me a question
Taff that’s a lot of money! But driving potentially 65 miles each way in rush hour, in winter, I’d be knackered! Especially with 3 kids at home ! I’d be driving home to drive back again !
Plus I think my car would die !

Has the poelt changed in any way due to covid? Are you still able to learn everything needed?
Re: Anyone want to ask me a question
Yes king of the kippa, 8 weeks instead of 10 and the 13 work books.
