changing shift patterns

Post by Ladder69 » Fri Oct 16, 2020 8:22 am

Okay so I've never had to work shifts before and I'm assuming as a prison officer your shifts will vary week to week. My question is what are people doing for their alarm clock, can you get one for changing shift patterns? :slwott: might sound like a stupid question but I'm worrying I'll forget to set an alarm if Im working a different shift pattern from the week before. I'm used to my alarm going off at the same time every day for the last 6 years.

Just get used to changing it mate is probably the easiest thing to do , I make it a routine to set my alarm just as getting into bed , ie the last thing I do before going sleep . I've worked shifts all my life , and hard to get used to if never done them , but they get easier. Some establishments do 7-8 night shifts straight, so that's a good a thing as you can get used to sleeping in the day for a week instead of a couple days, couple nights here and there.

Just give the night orderly a copy of your shift rota, they’ll give you a wake up call every morning :slda:
