POELT Physical Elements HELP!

Post: # 136422Post 1step

Hello! I've read through quite few of these topics and they've been a great help through most of the process, but I have a question and can't seem to find an answer for it 🙄 it's for anyone currently doing or gave done the POELT training.

Basically I've passed everything was due to start training in December, but sustained an injury which has put a hold on everything. Anyway finally had results today- weren't great but all is hopefully not lost yet!

So, my question Is, what is the physical side of the POELT training? Is there a huge amount? Do you get thrown about? As much detail would be greatly appreciated! :slbg:

I’m on POELT at the moment. The C&R week will be very physical- one lad on the last course broke a bone. They’ve advised to expect to be thrown about

To pass POELT you need to pass your C&R. If your injured you won’t be able to do take part in C&R.

Broken arms I can deal with as my injury isn't there haha.
I can imagine the sort of restraints etc they'll be practicing which I should be fine with. It's more of a running/jumping side I'm more concered about.

I've been asked to research the physical in training to pass on to my consultant who can ultimately give me the go ahead or not, that's why I've asked for as much detail as possible. I've seen stories about more bleep tests or running? Does anyone know if that's involved?
Also I know about the job after training and not just getting through it and I've made my establishment aware, and am awaiting to hear about certain things but just getting as much info as I can :D

I think when it comes to the physical part, it is pretty much what you did at your RAD. Also you have a annual fitness test. At least that's what it states on my contract.

"It is a condition of your employment that you satisfy the fitness criteria set down by NOMS and that you pass an annual fitness test. It is your responsibility to maintain the required fitness standard during your period of employment. If you fail the annual test, you will be required to take a re-test. If the re-test is failed, you will be provided with training and support to take a final test."

I'm not sure I want to break my arm in the training. I doubt it's that physical that we end up breaking bones.

There is no fitness test on Poelt, you should be in date for your fitness test before you start, the control and restraint Is the physical element of Poelt. Then when in the job you will have refresher courses on C&R as well as you annual fitness test which is the same as your RAD day.

bleep test
Agility (running round cones)
Shield hold
Grip test

Applying the wrong sort of pressure or too much pressure can result in torn muscles, ligaments and or broken bones, if people are overzealous with their attempts then you could find yourself in some pain.
It’s too bad that stupidity isn’t painful. Ignorance is one thing, but our society thrives increasingly on stupidity

Start of vetting to the call 17 weeks 2 days.

Bleep test is once a year, if you completed successfully in your RAD then you won't have to do another bleep test for 12 months.

With regards to physical part of POELT, if we pay attention during training then no one should really break any bones, it is about the technique, if you are playing the prisoner and have a baseball bat in your hand, once you are put up against the wall may be follow the direction given and don't put up to much of a fight lol this way it is over quicker and less chance of injury :slbx:
RAD - 03/11
Vetting - 05/11
OH Assist - 06/11
Waiting Call - 01/12
The Call - 04/12
Familiarisation Tour - 08/12
POELT - 19/03 Newbold Revel
