I had a guy try it on..
It started with something he was entitled to.. his medication. We have what we call "sick parade" so those who have meds can go and get them.. all I did was let him off the wing (as with everyone else) to get his medication.
Next thing I know he's asking for a KFC in exchange for £400... I submitted an MIR after telling him no but it just seemed like a weird jump lol
This really made me laugh
I know KFC is overpriced, but willing to pay £400 for it is a bit ridiculous

Thank you Patch. Makes sense as grooming.
Their poor attitude really says more about them than even their lack of basic literacy.

I was in total shock to be honest. There was me thinking he'd try little things but he just came out with that!! Heas even like "at least think about it" so I rolled my eyes up looking thoughtful and said "no"

I’d have just laughed at him and walked off
It’s things like this that really entertain me at work

Brings a new meaning to chicken breasts (presume that's where you would have to hide the fillets)

Tbh I would recommend putting in your IR's but just be careful as not all staff do. I was once making an entry in our obs book about something I overheard a conversation where prisoners where paying each other off with canteen. My colleague said oh yeah i know about that I know what hes paying for I asked have you IR'd this as I dont see an obs book entry and her response was no why would i its only canteen? Literally IR anything you feel you need to no matter how small and get filling in your obs book too. You may look new and keen and look like your nit picking but its how it should be. On the other hand, another officer read the obs book and point blank asked the prisoner "are you in debt cause we have an entry in our obs book about you" this resulted in the prisoner telling me he was going to "batter" whoever wrote it. Its not nice being stabbed in the back by colleagues!

I had these core values instilled in me at a young age and I will not change them for anyone.

I am not from a military background but my other half is currently serving, she told me about this when she was in training and they are fantastic values to live by.
On a side not, may sound stupid but what are IR's and the obs book?

Regarding the officer challenging a prisoner
I presume that the officer was acting inappropriately by revealing the contents of the obs book to a prisoner?
Their poor attitude really says more about them than even their lack of basic literacy.

Is the officer not doing their job by asking the prisoner? Obviously not by pointing into the book but to challenge by asking a direct question isn't a bad thing.

@Kangaroo - I don't mean the challenge per se, or even the directness of it, I meant specifically the reference to the obs book.

Ok. But to me it sends a message to the prisoner that things are recorded, observed and acted upon. I don't think he's said 'oi john look what mhadhebi said about you'
