I don’t think it’s people being “stuck up their own arses”... it’s called having an opinion which we are all entitled too. Where would you draw the line for what is an acceptable criminal record and what isnt? Doing something as a child in youth is different to a fully functioning adult. But even then if that said child was incarcerated then they should fail vetting as well as an adult!

If people are failing vetting due to previous employers not sending back their references and you pass even with your convictions and alcohol misuse history something is seriously wrong.

I also don't feel this is a case of "people being up their own arses". People voiced their opinions and concerns over the matter, I think it's reasonable to expect people to be upfront and honest with you.

Surely it's better than sugar coating it and raising your hopes up for something that may not happen?

I really hope you find out either way soon, there's nothing worse than being kept in limbo.

Have you thought about what you might do if this doesn't work out? There's plenty of other professions that wouldn't delve quite as far in to your past, or maybe even see it as a positive? Substance misuse or something similar, at least it's a stepping stone.

Natasha - you wouldn’t make a good officer anyway with the attitude you’ve demonstrated on this forum. You’ve demonstrated it again in your most recent post when referring to someone’s valid opinion as ‘being stuck up their own arse’. Terrible :slby:

The only person stuck up their own arse here Natasha is you, if you fail the appeal, it doesn’t matter if you try and reappeal you have failed twice and they will not entertain you.

Your holier than though attitude won’t work in your favour here, you are upsetting a lot of people with it, even more than me and that’s hard to do. :slre:

From your previous posts I still believe that a councilling job is more what you are suited too and would strongly suggest that you look in to that if your appeal is unsuccessful.
It’s too bad that stupidity isn’t painful. Ignorance is one thing, but our society thrives increasingly on stupidity

Start of vetting to the call 17 weeks 2 days.

But remember SWM, people change and if they say that a drink drive isn't a big deal then it mustn't be .... :slhmm:

I do hope Natasha that your appeal isn't successful, but for the right reasons and not just to hope that you 'fail in life' I don't believe that you are right for this environment nor is the environment right for you (environment of a prison officer) As others have suggested I think you would be better suited, from your comments as a councillor/ support worker.

But the sheer fact that you don't see why people are suggesting this to you just stacks up against you and suggests that if you were to pass, that once in service you would struggle with people not being bowled over by your super positive 'let's change peoples lives' approach. You have proven poor judgement, mistakes are mistakes, falling on hard times and missing a few bills can be cleared up etc. But drinking and choosing to drive, endangering peoples lives as well as your own is not a history of judgement that says you should be put in the position of trust that a prison officer is, it is ridiculous to me that you think otherwise, you are responsible for peoples safety daily and judgement is one of many keys.

You must lay in the bed that you made and make of it what you can.
