New uniform in the new year?

Post by Porecruit17 » Sun Nov 12, 2017 2:23 am

Hello All,

I am due to start soon. Filled all my uniform form out a while ago. Had confirmation of uniform on-site waiting.

Had an email the other day saying that all shirts and ties from the new year are gone and only Polo's and needed to send in sizes for Polo's.

I knew they was planning on changing but have not heard of any establishments doing it yet?

Has anyone recently changed uniform? If so, what do you prefer? Is the Polo's better? Or do you think shirt is better?

Is there a possibility in the future they would go back to white shirts?

opinions???

Freaks establishment changed to this uniform a month or so again, not sure if it is cost effective or not yet as it's early days but can't see them spending out in a new uniform to change it back, oh no wait it's HMPPS, anything could happen.

I asked this very question at my (London) establishment in this past week and was told the white shirts are here to stay for all operational officers, with ties on Nov-Apr and ties off May-Oct.

The polo shirts are a safety issue.
When it all kicks off on the wing and you run on under a general alarm, what is it you look for?
White shirts to see if an officer I in trouble or needs assistance.
With the polo shirts you cant, at a glance, identify an officer.
We have refused to wear them

People are resistant to change, it happens everywhere, unfortunately those on the ground are not considered when these changes are made.

Sgt makes a good point but those in power will not care, the white sorts will be phased out I'd imagine with time and those officers will have no choice but to change.

YOI use that uniform and I am guessing they have no issue identifying each other when the poo hits the fan.

Just editted to say that YOI guards already where this uniform so that may be the come back to the POA when they present that as an argument.

Playing devil's advocate here, I totally agree with you, officers need to be readily identifiable and this new uniform could be an issue.

I’m currently in week 6 of vetting with very little contact, and have been doing my research on this site, personally I think polo’s will look very unprofessional in the prison.. where would the epaulettes sit? I hope it doesn’t go ahead.. I think the uniform is fine as it is. But hey ho anything could happen right🙈

The woukd sit on the sleeve the same as what the police have nowadays. Times are changing, only time will tell if it's for the worse or better.
