I will be doing 41 hours but I recently read somewhere there is a new scheme coming where you can do additional hours 5-9 hours a week but must do it for 3 months at PP rate. These hours are on top of 37+4.

Once 3 months is over, You will get an extra £1500 bonus payment but this is only paid if the additional hours were worked for 3 months without a miss.

Not sure if this is true though..

This scheme is already running.

Is this scheme nationwide and would it apply to new starters?

That scheme isnt new its been round for awhile. Its a pp bonus scheme and its open to anyone in that establishment as long as your not signed up to another establishments.

You must sign up to 5 or 9 hrs a week for a 12 week period and you get the pp each month plus a bonus at the end of 12 weeks.

The 5 or 9 hours are after your contract hours (37-41) and most jails will only allow you to use pp in the jail and not on escirts or bedwatches.

Not every jail has the bonus scheme. Mainly Red sites or where the staff are refusing to do pp and working to rule.
Hope that helps

Right. I have read so many different post on poelt pay and none answer fully.

I am starting at a 'hard to recruit jail' so will I be getting the extra £3000 bonus during my training period or will it start once my poelt has finished. I have read here it starts f on day 1. But then I have also read it's from after your training.

Can any one who has recently been through poelt confirm either way??

Also is does this vary from jail to jail or is it across the board?

I would just like to know so I can get my accounts in order before I start.

Thanks in advance!!!

You get it from day one on POELT. I agree that there are answers that say both when you start or after training, my HR confirmed that is from day 1.

Hard to recruit bonus is paid from day one, what people are getting confused with is contracted hours. You will only be paid 37hrs for poelt and then you apply for your extra hours contract at the end i.e 39 or 41.

Thanks guys. Hope you're both right as it's nearly £300 a month difference which is a fair chunk of change.

SSCL told me we don't get it until after training! I hope they are wrong as like CrazyParsnip said, it's quite a big difference.

If there’s a lesson to be learned from SSCL it’s don’t trust aword that comes out their mouths, they have got to be the single worst administration company ever, screwing the services recruitment drive over time and time again.

As Manc Apollo has said you get everything from the start but only on a 37 hr contract.

However at my establishment you go onto a 39 hr contract on completion of POELT and can opt out and remain on 37 hrs. I stayed on 39 hrs but am still paid 37 hrs only as SsCL haven’t fixed it yet. So I have done a few months and not been paid the full hrs I worked. So be prepared to wait

It will be paid from Day 1 but they giving me £5000 for the hard to Recruit Prison.

The 4 extra hours are paid at an Enhanced rate so it's better to take them.

Remember a person jogging for 5 miles will probably beat a person sprinting a short burst at a time over 5 miles.

What I'm saying is PP isn't guaranteed and you might never get it as you are NEW so they will work it.

Maybe in a year or so you will get to do some PP if it's still available.
