Just keep in mind if you opt for 37 rather than 41 and make up the difference with PP then PP is not pensionable
Only 37 hours are pensionable even if you opt for 39 or 41 I'm afraid. The only benifit I can see is if your contracted for 41 and they implement a pp ban you'd still get the extra 4 hours a week on top!

Offered (subject to establishment) 37, 39 or 41 contracted hours, however unless you already have a civil service pension based upto 39 hours which you are carrying over. 37 is all that is pensionable! But changeable contract I doubt!

It's definitely worth it. There might be days where you wish you didn't have to stay another hour or whatever hours, but at least those extra 4 hours are yours 100%, unlike overtime is not always there for you to take

Just realised something odd. When I applied for the job, it was advertised as the following:

"Salary: £29,453 - £32,521 (based on 39 hours and including any additional allowance), with potential to earn more depending on contract hours and overtime."

My contract says £25,500 based on 37 hours including unsocial hours, which makes me wonder. How can you earn £4000 to £6000 more just by doing an extra 2 hours? Something is not right

I've had the same thing - contract approx 22k - job advertised as 28-29k. I've been advised the difference is hours and any establishment specific bonus'

Not sure what I'll be paid during POELT but I guess I'll wait and see...

Please check link page 20

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&sourc ... _AIFPhr-lc

or search psi-28-2012-noms-pay-policy-manual.pdf on Google.

Anyway the formulae they use is base rate (hourly page) ÷ 37 × 4 (1 or 2 or 3 or 4 hours) + 20% enhanced rate

My contract says enhanced rate for the additional hours.

The extra £5000 is for the hard to Recruit Prisons. You will sign for this when the contract comes. This is paid seperately from your salary.

Hey guys,

I have received a separate letter regarding an allowance but I wonder if it will be paid from day 1 or after Poelt ...
What did your letter arrive with? My role was advertised at £27k but my contact says £22k. The prison I have applied for isn't listed above. I was under the impression my establishment was 'hard to recruit' as it's in the middle of nowhere and the salary was advertised high!

I received it with my contract. Starting salary will be £27,060 the same as when I was applying. The letter called " Recruitment and Retention Allowance" it says there in addition to my basic salary I will receive an allowance of £3000 and it will be paid separate on payslip.
I think you should call shared services so they will explain as it is strange..

I never received that letter with my contract. Well I say contract, I'm guessing it is but it doesn't say anywhere on it that it is a 'contract' just terms and conditions. I think I'll give SSCL a call tomorrow and try to find out why the salary advertised isn't matching the salary in my contract then. Thank you
