can see where you are coming from with your comments ST, but both you and I know there are many in the job who do just that, sit on their bottoms all day and do nothing! but not sure either comment was meant as a snipe though.

Good luck with the future Guest, and am truely sorry your experience wasn't a good one. It is your colleagues that make the job good, and safer.

:sljo: lol the argumentative theme of this thread is enough to drive anyone to leave the service.

Shows that we're all stressed, whether we believe that or not. Best of luck for your future.. all of us.
Keep calm and carry on.

Good luck to you Guest I fully understand why you are leaving.

I have been gone a few years now, and i left for purely finanancial reasons ( taking a job that more than doubled my salary)

Do i regret it ?....... No

Do i miss the job and the staff... EVERY SINGLE DAY !

Sure i had days where i hated it and got pissed off with the 'Lilac brigade' and i didnt make the difference that i naively thought i would when i joined, but on the whole

i was proud to be a prison offficer :slbg:

I left the prison service 4 months ago after 14 years service , enjoyed the job up until the last couple of years i drive a van now not a white one though
Do i miss the job yes i do after all its a massive part of your life you live it every day weather your on duty or on a rest day it eats into your personality and your view on life it made me a more confident person and made me wisen up fast
Do i miss my Collegues Yes I never had a leaving do , i just disappeared the friends i had from the prison are still my friends i still socialise with them i still share their black humour i listen too whats happening but at this point i feel strangly left out not by my friends but by myself
My partner still works at the prison i listen to her mank and moan every evening about various events of the day the only difference is that i,m not joining in
When i first started my partner worked else where a woman she worked with ( who was married to an officer )told her not to try to compete in the bad day stakes because no matter how bad your day has been it will never be as bad as his , i am now returning the favour and just listen and agree and adding my little jems of wisdom as and when required
Am i glad i left yes i am i feel i have my life back i was and still am proud to have been a prison officer
Only working to annoy the SMT
