Graduation

I keep being told that on the last Friday of your POELT training (wherever you may be), you 'graduate' on the Friday afternoon? What does this mean?

Do you get your epaulettes that day? Is there a small gathering (lets not stretch to ceremony!).

I am curious?.....

At Newbold you have a small presentation in the conference centre with about 3 guests allowed per POELT. You can take your guests around the college and they get to see a C&R demonstration. YOu then direct them to the conference centre and join the rest of your section for the presentation proper. Each section is brought in and sits in their alloted seats - and not until your instructed by your tutor's little head nod :slred: Each POELT is then called down to receive their certificates and shake hands and have a picture taken by guests. Finishes by 1130 and then your on your way home.

You get a practice run the day before, which doesn't always help you get it right. And don't stumble/fall down the steps as you go for certificates, its embarrasing lol
I think the phrase rhymes with 'clucking bell'.

I suppose the question can be answered in many different ways dependant on the training college you attended.

I was at Wymott and on the last Friday we all joined up at the training facility in the morning, before moving onto the venue.
It all started about half 10 and there was a presentation to families and friends showing what we had been doing over the previous weeks.
Following on from this there was a speech from a guest Governer and then the certificate presentation. Once all done we enjoyed a buffet meal and a few pints if we werent driving.
We were dismissed from this approx 1300.

I started my first shift the Sunday following, giving me a full day off before going onto the wing as a Probatonary Prison Officer

Hiya
I've already asked some of these questions and if at Newbold finish around 1145-1200 on Friday to allow those who have to travel to get home at decent hour.

The rooms as far as I know are all en suite - it's an old stately home.

Definately have computers in the library if don't want to take your own but don't know about wi-fi...

anyone help with the rest of these questions?

By the way I know you and are working at the same prison so just wondered what town you lived in for car share maybe if we are on same wing, etc. Drop me a private email......
