New starters

Post by DB1984 »

Hi all

I’m currently going through the application process nearly at the end the last hurdle is the fitness.
I was just thinking we read so much on this forum about the application process but I was wondering if any new starters could give me an insight into what it’s like now you have started is it what you thought it would be what are the shift patterns like?

My establishment is on a 4 day pattern which I like, I'm loving the job but in reality I've only been there during the covid pandemic, so haven't experienced a full unlock yet. Best decision I've made is to join the service.

So I’ve just finished my two week induction and genuinely loving it so far, even if I’ve gotten lost once or twice.

They’ve tried to give us a taste of all the different parts of the prison and all the staff I’ve met so far have been really helpful

Had a 4 day week over the two weeks including an all day shift until 9pm and a night shift

Thanks 😊

So good to hear your all enjoying the job anymore insights would be great. My Fitness 11th June failed the first I’ve been suffering with runners knee so 8 weeks rest so I do think I might struggle again. 😢
