Prison Officer to OSG

Morning all , hope your all well , been in the job now since end of October, and just done my first set of nights with the week off afterwards , gotta admit if I could do that full time, my homelife, and lifestyle in general would be brilliant-- well I've found out that the OSGs at our Prison literally do a week of nights , week off constantly!! So my question is , who do I contact / apply /speak to in regards to becoming an OSG from o Prison Officer, and has anyone done this..... thanks in advance - C

Speak to your line manager, they should point you in the right direction, if not, see your detail office.

Good question Craig I wondered that too! Some OSGs have become Prison Officers so surely it can be the other way round too??

You can regrade to osg. Your jail must be recruiting for osgs at the time. Remember there is a big thing lately that hmps uses agency to recruit osg. There is sometimes push back for an officer to regrade due to how much they have invested in your training.
But yes it is possible to regrade. See your line manager.
If its just the fact you enjoy nights speak to your detail dept. They can tell you about anyone who wishes to give up their night shift an do shift swaps
