First Week

Post by Craig79 » Fri Nov 20, 2020 1:50 pm

Good Afternnon all ,

Just thought I'd drop back in and say I've just completed my first week of my 2 weeks induction / Training - lots has gone on which has been mentioned in other posts , but I'd just like to add to what other people have said . It's by far the most interesting job I've ever had , and a job that really has me wanting and knowing as much as I can . You'll hear it a lot " Ask lots of questions " , and it's TRUE , the knowledge of the staff ( especially the Officers that have been in quite a few years) is brilliant, and they will share any knowledge with you , and answer ANY questions at all - I have the upmost respect for any Prison Officer after what I've seen this week, all the staff have each others backs , and it is nice to know .
I'll happily answer any questions about what goes on the first few days , I love it 👍👍👍

Cheers all - And glad it's going well Taff - 👍

Regarding jabs , no mention of anything regarding that.

Most memorable moment -- I'd honestly say the first time walking onto the Wing , no pictures or videos can describe really what's it's like, it's like driving a car, you can tell someone about it , but you wont feel what it's like to drive, till you have the keys and driving yourself -- if that makes sense .

I'm glad I waited for this job to start ...... it's worth it.

@JCOX4 - For the first day , there wasn't much interaction as I was just observing the routine , but they say hello Guv , Boss, Sir as the week went on, they know your new- come Thursday/Friday I just say hello , you ok , things like that -- You are allowed to talk to them , but they will let you know if they dont want to talk Haha.

@BearGuy - 6 started in total pal -- 2 officers , 2 OSGs and 2 NHS , I'll be training at Newbold with the other officer I'm with , and meet up with him at Lunch which is good .

@dookie197 - I was too, I think everyone is , but honestly the nerves do settle , Promise 👍

You’ll be training over Xmas Craig but they shut the centres down for 2 weeks... any idea what you have to do?

Yeah , Exactly 🤣🤣-- you have the choice to work - or take leave , your entitled to it , we were advised to take it off so they dont have to mess with rotas --- I agreed with her totally 🤣🤣🤣🤣
