Re: Seeing an escort

I'm not sure if this genuine or not.... if you belong to a disciplined service you should not get yourself involved in the sex trade at all be it as a user or service provider. The press would have a field day if they found out and if I'm honest there is far more things to worry about than just the ...

Re: Prison Officer to OSG

I've known a few who have done it.... a number due to the officer role becoming too much, other I know have regarded to allow them to do permanent nights whilst starting a business (let's face it your not going to find many jobs which provide more work life balance than 7 on 7 off), Either way regra...

Re: Induction - Disappointed

Is it an old jail? A lot of these tend to be very militant, I started in a very militant local jail, some officers wouldn't speak to me when I started and would have rather spoken to the cons than speak to a probie, unless they were ex military.... I thought attitudes would have changed over the yea...

Re: Wearing your officer uniform, in a pub....

As in all disciplined roles it is expected that you hide any association to the role your doing in a social setting I've joined the fire service since leaving HMP a few years ago and for our brigade it is a big no no even though we would face no danger compared to a police or prison officer, I've po...

Re: Security Query

If you work at a local cat B it's likely to happen, I started off in a cat B inner city jail and it happened to me a few times first time I went to the security gaffer who told me it's pretty much to be expected, however when I transferred out to a cat C it didn't happen to me once, I've been out th...

Re: Prison types/opinions please!?

There all a much of muchness.... YO's tend to have there issues which I'm sure you'll be aware off. I've been out for 3 years but I started in a Cat B local az a fresh faced 20 year old and did 4 years before transferring to a Cat C before the Bastards at G4S took over then after 5 years I got out, ...

Re: Smoking ban one step closer?

I left just shortly before the smoking ban, would've thought it would have been a nightmare.... for decades the currency of prison has always been burn, I'd have expected it to have become the new item to smuggle in,although profit wouldn't have been as higher certainly a lot less risk than mamba etc.

Re: Quality of recruits nowadays

There will and always be an attitude of "it was better in my day".... I left hmp after 9 years to join the fire service theres still that attitude amongst staff in both organisations.... although it is not anywhere near as bad as 10/15 years ago. I started at a Cat B inner city local, very...

Re: Prison officer cut back

I did a few years at a cat B local nick prior to cut backs (work force modernisation) and did several years after WFM it basically saw a drastic cut in pay for new joiners and VEDS been offered to staff across the board. It also saw the removal of Prison Officer grades etc. At the local nick we woul...

Re: Letter requesting to return to Duty

I've received a few calls from my old nick,

Not missed every single one of em mind, not recieved a letter as of yet but I've been out the service a few years longer than you.... surely it doesn't make sense to have a returning officer go through poelt etc if only recently left.

Re: Coronavirus

I've been out the service for a few years now... i doubt my current service will allow me to work for HMPS which is correct in my opinion.

Whats the process with suspected covid 19 bedwatches?
Can't see many officers volunteering

Re: Covering at other prisons

Tip... which I learnt over the years I did. Make sure you state to your Oscar/SO that you will only be covering the bed watch.... if they say no you have to sign up for an A,just wait and eventually you'll get a call from them, that way if a bedwatch comes back you dont end up been dicked on a shit ...

Re: Coronavirus

From the service I'm in.... were expecting to stop "safe and wells" and go into a response only mode, Must admit I was in the camp of "it's just a cold" however now I'm realising the gravity situation it's a very worrying time. However I will add social media is full of a lot of ...
