Re: Starting training on the 14th june

So at my establishment you start on the 37 hour contract this will be what you are paid throughout your training For us - may differ in other places- they aren’t allowing us to request to increase hours until after training. Although everyone has said to wait a few months to make sure you enjoy it b...

Re: Induction - Disappointed

I’m sorry that has happened to you. Stick it out, if you continue to hate the wing you’re assigned to, speak to a cm or even the governor about moving What I noticed from my induction is there was a split between staff, in fairness the majority of staff I’ve met were lovely and took the time to spea...

This may depend on the establishment but with mine you can take in protein shakes etc as long as you only take in what you need for that day

Re: Security Query

They will go through all these scenarios when you start so don’t worry

A few on my training have had to put in IRs or conflict of interests for similar reasons

The establishment just expect you to be honest when these things crop up

Re: Unsuccessful application

You can ask SSCL to transfer your successful result over to other establishments

You won’t need to do the assessments again

Re: Wearing your officer uniform, in a pub....

So first thing they drilled into us during our induction is to never wear your epaulettes or your key chain in public and if possible wear a civi hoody Wearing your uniform in public just makes you a target I’ve received abuse just from walking from my car to the main gate so certainly wouldn’t wear...

Re: Fitbit/ smart watches in prison

Hey

They won’t allow fit bits or smart watches

However there was a child version on Amazon that had no Bluetooth that counted your steps.
I bought it just to see how many steps I would be doing and it was fine to wear

So I’ve just finished my two week induction and genuinely loving it so far, even if I’ve gotten lost once or twice. They’ve tried to give us a taste of all the different parts of the prison and all the staff I’ve met so far have been really helpful Had a 4 day week over the two weeks including an al...

I just showed up with all my ID, they only asked to see my driving license

They had forms for me to fill out there, think it was a health questionnaire
