Re: COVID vaccinations for officers

I agree. I hope they don't make it mandatory and I'm still able to start the role as intended at the end of the year.

Re: COVID vaccinations for officers

Thanks Virgo. I'm not anti-vaccine. However, I prefer to wait until the trials and tests are finished and it's been approved. I belive putting something permanently into your body should be everyone's own personal choice. I

Re: COVID vaccinations for officers

Just wondering if anyone who works within the prison service could advise whether this has been made mandatory for prison officers? I'm due to start training towards the end of the year, however I feel very strongly about being able to choose if I have the vaccine or not.

Re: Vetting Process

It's certainly a long process @virgoxxx I'm lucky in the respect that I'm working but I do feel it for people who are unemployed and waiting to get going.

Re: Vetting Process

From my own experience, this is what was showing on the portal when I passed vetting. However, it went back and forth a couple of times before I got the email to book the call to discuss my start date.

I finished it last night too. Thought it was pretty good. I wonder if they'll do more episodes to follow what happened next to the officer that went to prison.πŸ€”

Lol! I'm happy to embrace everyone's "weirdness". πŸ˜‚

I was thinking myself that further down the line it would be good to move establishments to gain more experience. I've been offered a role in a women's prisons as its the closest one to me. However, I'm also intrigued in the male ones too.

Re: Differences with Adults and YOI - My experiences

I think that is one of, if not, my only concern going into this role. I've been self employed for so long and haven't worked as part of a team for some time now. I miss being around other people day to day and working as a team and I feel that this aspect can make or break the job. I'm hopeful that ...

Great insight into both roles and encouraging to read that staff are there for each other too.

Re: What is more beneficial ?

Thought I'd jump on this post to ask if anyone knows how long it usually takes for your contract to come through after you've had confirmation of a start date for training?
